LPGA Adds China Tourney
The LPGA is going to China.
Added to the 2008 schedule is the Grand China Air LPGA, Oct. 24-26, at Haikou West Golf Club in Haikou, Hainan, China.
The LPGA's news release states:
Sixty-three of the world's best players will compete for a purse of US$1,800,000. The player field is made up of the top 51 ranked available players on the LPGA Official Money List as of the 14th of September, 2008, and 12 invited players to be decided by the CGA, Grand China Air and IMG. This will create playing opportunities for Chinese women golfers and offer opportunities for these chosen players to compete with the very best in the world.
This tournament fills in the week in-between the LPGA's new Hawaii tournament, the Kapalua LPGA Classic (Oct. 16-19) and the Korea tournament, the Korea Championship presented by Sema Sports (Oct. 31-Nov. 2).
