Can Trevor Immelman Win the Grand Slam?
There was so much talk about Tiger Woods' Grand Slam possibilities in 2008 - much of it by Tiger himself (that didn't work out too well for your friend Annika Sorenstam, either, Mr. Woods) - that I'm a little relieved we won't have to hear any more of it after Trevor Immelman's win in The Masters.
But what about Immelman's chances for a Grand Slam? There was so much Tiger talk that I thought it would be fun and perhaps instructive to do an in-depth analysis of Immelman's Grand Slam chances.
So after much research, I'm prepared to give that in-depth analysis of the question, "Can Trevor Immelman win the Grand Slam?" Here goes:
No.

but what about....
First off, Tiger wasn't the one doing most of the talk about a Grand Slam. He gave a solid answer to an annoying, constant question. And really, who could argue with the possibility ?
On to Mr Immelman. All week, we have been told how Immelman is another Ben Hogan. (fact is that he styled his swing growing up similar to Hogan's - he never said he was another Ben Hogan).
Following the hype, regardless of how inaccurately it was presented, Immelman COULD win the first three majors of the year - but his cruise back to the US would take too long to compete in the PGA...or maybe his flight would get grounded in the UK for a few weeks.
