Wie's Boyfriend is Big Man On Campus ... Literally

robin lopez michelle wie boyfriend I'm sorry, I didn't intend for Thursday to turn into "Michelle Wie Day" on Waggle Room. But I keep stumbling across stuff about my favorite phenom.

Sports by Brooks noticed that in a Sports Illustrated profile of Stanford's 7-foot-1 basketball brothers, the Lopezes, there is this nugget:

Robin is dating Stanford's current most famous female coed, golf phenom Michelle Wie, although both have tried to keep things as quiet as possible.

You go girl! (But so much for keeping it quiet.)

So Michelle's boyfriend is 7-foot-1 Robin Lopez.

Brooks adds:

Wonder what kind of review process Robin had to go through to get Mr. & Mrs. Wie's approval to date their daughter - considering these are the same parents that bought a house in Palo Alto just to keep a closer eye on her.

And that's assuming Wie's folks even know they're dating. If they don't, well - surprise!

I guess we know what Michelle will be doing Friday night: watching the Stanford-Texas matchup in the NCAA basketball tourney.

Hmm, a check of the Stanford athletics site lists Robin at 7-0, not 7-1. Perhaps he is still growing -- trying to stay ahead of Michelle. Robin is averaging 10.3 points and 5.7 rebounds this year, shooting 54-percent from the field.

who did you expect ?
Who ELSE would the 6'9" Wie date ?

I heard she was considering trying out for the men's team, but her wrist problems were leaving too many jumpers in the paint short...and the coach wouldn't let her wear her Nike newsboy hat on the court.

behind the times
come on now - lil' Wiesie was 6'1" tall when she was 13...she HAS to be at least 6'9" or 10" by now !!! :-)

Sounds like she had a good high school life.

good lord!
Imagine the size of the babies ...

holy cow !
(no - not a comment on the size of the babies - they'd be skinny as strings !)

imagine the "Britney Spears" type headlines if that happened, not to mention having to explain to ma and pa and their traditional Korean leanings.

I guess she'd have to take her $20 million and move out.

and that would
probably be the best thing for her ... although not necessarily with a (big) little one in tow!

oh great...
...so now you have her faking a pregnancy to get away from home ??!!!!  Geez !! :-)

Won't her wrists be jealous that some other part of her is getting attention ?
