Yo, HSBC!
Dear HSBC,
Congratulations for running a fantastic tournament over there in Singapore this week! Lorena Ochoa is a great champion and her virtuoso -20 performance establishes a tournament record even she will have trouble surpassing. But you know what? It's a little too soon to be trumpeting your event as a candidate for women's golf's 5th major. No cut, no way. The Evian Masters' organizers realized this last year, so I hope to see you all follow suit in the next.
Speaking of next year, did you all notice that the LPGA has kept an open week between the new October Hawaii event and the beginning of the Asian Swing? Wouldn't it be the Coolest Thing Ever if you moved your "suspended" Women's World Match Play Championship to somewhere warm in Asia in that slot in 2009? I know, I know, it's supposed to be reserved for the return of the Honda Thailand event. But here's an idea: why not propose a co-sponsorship to Honda? It's a better option than shooting for that open week in mid-September at, say, Atlanta--and less expensive for you all.
To help you cover your costs, I'll bring my banking bizness over to your Dunkirk, NY, branch if you take the aforementioned advice.
Yours truly, The Constructivist
