Tiger Woods Buys Another "House" - This One for $65 Million (or did he?)
Hey, who says the housing market is tight? Tiger Woods just plopped down $65 million for a New York estate in the Hamptons. (Hat tip to my friend JP Hondo, who said, "So basically the tournament he won this weekend paid for a bathroom. Nice.")
Via the New York Post, the brief "celebrity gossip" item reports:
Located on exclusive Gin Lane, Tiger Woods' estate is on nearly six gated acres with a 13,200-square-foot Colonial Revival main residence, a 7,500-square-foot guesthouse and a four-car garage with staff quarters.
The lush grounds feature an oversized seaside pool with spa, a tennis court, a lily pond and professionally groomed gardens.
This is the third megamillion home that Woods has snagged in the past few years. There's also the $40 million estate in Florida, plus the 50,000-square-foot "home" he's building in Dubai.
Update: Newsday is saying that the Post's report is not true. Damn. I was ready to head to the Hamptons, knock on Tiger's very expensive door, and say there'd been reports of a gas leak.
Update II: A Bloomberg article now also quoting the realtor as saying that the buyer was not Tiger. And Tiger's agent, Mark Steinberg, also says the buyer wasn't Tiger. But the New York Post says it's standing by its story.
