That's What I'm Talking About

Here's what the golf world desperately wants to see from Ernie Els or Phil Mickelson or Vijay Singh or anyone other than Bob May: A 2-person battle down the stretch with Tiger Woods.

Karrie Webb and Ji-Yai Shin did it at the Australian Women's Open, each posting 67 - the lowest scores of the tournament - in the final round, then playing off for the championship. Webb birdied the second playoff hole for the victory.

Which reminds me of a question that The Constructivist or Hound Dog can probably answer: What are Shin's plans for 2008? I believe she's still committed to the KLPGA. Has she talked about a timetable for joing the LPGA?

If Shin were on the LPGA, she'd be in this position all the time - chasing Webb, Sorenstam, Ochoa down the stretch (or being chased). The women's world rankings overrate non-LPGA players, but not Shin. She's No. 7, and deserves that lofty ranking. I suspect she'd be the fourth-best player on the LPGA if she were a member.

Our Tiffany Joh wound up tied for 36th with rounds of 74-75-76-74. Tiff hit tons of fairways, had a great GIR round in the fourth, but putting plagued her all week.

but since she didn't ask...
...I'd have to say that T-Joh's putting would be helped immensely by The Hotrod Putter - fact it - they had HER in mind when they made this one...

Anyone carrying that thing might get stopped by airport security.

Shin
Ji-Yai is definitely playing KLPGA this year.  I remember reading somewhere that she plans on giving the LPGA a full shot in '09.

I agree that she would be a Top 10 player on the LPGA and with some experience, Top Four is a real possibility.

what he said
She's aiming to get the career victories lead on the KLPGA and hopefully along the way win a tournament (either a major or the Korea one) that gets her an LPGA exemption to avoid the formality of winning Q-School....

LPGA Tour Card to Korean Tour
Considering the dominance of the Korean Contingent on the LPGA Tour, maybe the LPGA should just offer the year end money leader on the KLPGA an LPGA Tour card each year.
