Gasp!

Tiger Woods shoots over par, loses Dubai lead! Quick, somebody get me the Book of Revelations!

And let me check my handy Nostradamas reference ... yep, there it is, ol' Nosty predicted it:

The great cat straineth against leash
In land of sand, third setting sun
Great steel forged in fire, no birds mark the sky,
Returneth home to hot Swedish nanny

Ernie Els shoots 65 in the third round and takes a 2-stroke lead; Woods, with a 73, falls four off the pace.

A few days ago, I don't recall where, I ran across a column headlined, "Els ready to challenge Tiger." Or something like that. And I didn't bother reading it. Because I've read that column every year for the past five years.

Regardless of what happens on Sunday - whether Els wins or not - we shouldn't read too much into Els' performance here. He always plays great in Dubai. He usually has a great week (often several, but at least one) somewhere in the world every year and makes everyone think, "Maybe Ernie can do it this year ..." But I decided a long time ago that when it comes to chalenging Woods, the Big Easy is more like the Big Teasey.

But a good, strong year from Els - a couple wins, perhaps a run at a major? That's still possible. And that would be nice to see.
