Kelly Tilghman Comment
This is political correctness gone too far.  Kelly Tilghman, while not my favorite golf media personality, meant nothing malicious with her comment.  She and Tiger are friends, and he has immediately recognized the comment for what it was...a comment.  We should be as understanding.

interesting conversation on ESPN Radio...
I was listening to one of the shows on ESPN radio today and heard a comment that, if the words Tilghman used were said by a male anchor, HE would have been immediately fired.

It was an interesting comment and it does have a bit of precedence behind it.  All the men I can recall who have said anything remotely "racist" or "sexist" faced severe punishments or immediate firing and banishment from media circles.

While I agree that Tilghman meant nothing by her comment - and Tiger Woods agrees - The Golf Channel's hands were pretty much tied.  If the media is to be held to some sort of standard, it has to go for the women as well as the men.  Missing a couple of tournaments won't hurt her career in the long run. (unless TGC figures out that the broadcasts are better without her sitting next to Faldo in the booth - which is a very real possibility)

The next question would be this - will African American members of the media - such as Ron Johnson - be held to the same standard for his irresponsible comments ?  How about A/M media people who use terms like "white boy" or phrases that imply that the white athlete can't compete with the black athlete ?

Is what's good for the goose REALLY good for the gander ?  Or is it the one way street it appears to be because the big wigs in the media are afraid of some bogus "reverend" calling for a boycott of their sport or at least spew the race card on television ?

seems a pretty symbolic suspension to me
I'm just surprised they didn't take the opportunity to send her back to Golf Central and find someone else to do the tournaments.
