From Parts Unknown

I was up late last night, but not quite late enough to get the final first-round scores from the Australian Women's Open. So I visited the excellent Aussie golf news site, iseekgolf.com, this morning for the scores.

They don't seem to know from where our Tiffany Joh hails:

Tiff's flag is missing. The "Afghanistan" is what appeared when I moused over the missing flag. Afghanistan? That's no good.

Although it does present an opportunity. Tiff could start wearing during her rounds one of those colorful lucha libre rasslin' masks, and be introduced the first tee: "And now, from parts unknown, the T-Joh!"

While her American flag is missing, you can see above that Tiffany posted 74 in the first round, tied for 15th. The leader, Ursula Wikstrom, is at 70. (Remember early last year or late 2006, the photos of that very pregnant golfer struggling in the heat at Dubai? That was Wikstrom.)

TJ had five birdies, four bogeys and one "oops," a double on a par-3. She averaged 259 yards on her two measured drives, which is longer than she makes herself sound; 259 isn't Brittany Lincicome, but it sure ain't Rosie Jones.

Perhaps Tiff has been hitting the gym, as she suggested she would in these immortal lines:

I try to hit longer drives so I can spin them wedges back,
but if I wanna do that, I gotta get my muscles jacked.
