Are Hank and Venus Engaged?

Hank Kuehne and Venus Williams, natch, and Hank and Venus both say - contrary to persistent rumors - the answer is "no."

According to Golf World:

The rumors were so strong that Hank Kuehne had to call his mother to say he did not get engaged to tennis star Venus Williams.

And Venus denied the rumors to an Australian newspaper:

Venus Williams's boyfriend, golfer Hank Kuehne, wasn't to be seen when she won on Tuesday night, and Williams was keen to diss rumours of an impending wedding.

The couple have been together for a year, but Williams dismissed speculation over the diamond ring she was wearing on her engagement finger.

"I've been wearing this ring for like, four years," she said.

But the proverbial "sources close to the star" ("the star," by the way, refers to Venus because Hank, well ... um ... yeah) continue to insist the engagement is real and a wedding is in the offing - but that Kuehne and Williams are trying to get through the Australian Open without distraction.
