Injury Updates: Miyazato, Choi
Ai Miyazato was in 17th place when the day started at the LPGA State Farm Classic yesterday, but she walked off the course and withdrew after the seventh hole. No reason was given on Sunday for Miyazato's withdrawal.
The Kyodo News Service reports today:
Miyazato was quoted by her manager as saying she had been suffering from dizziness since the morning.
Scant information, to be sure, but something. The WD followed bogeys on holes 4, 5 and 6, then a triple-bogey on No. 7 where she put two balls in the water.
You know, Miyazato is like a rock star in Japan (take a drink!).
Meanwhile, K.J. Choi is absent from the Deutsche Bank today because of a lower back strain that he aggravated during Friday's opening round. The injury dates back to March when Choi initially strained his back lifting one of his children. Let this be a lesson to golfers everywhere: Have as little interaction with your children as possible!*
Choi feels that he should be OK for the BMW Championship and Tour Championship. He was No. 2 in FedEx Cup points going into the Deutsche Bank and should still be in the Top 5 afterward despite having to withdraw this week.
(*I kid, I kid!)
