Golf Digest's Mark Soltau reports in the magazine's blog that incoming freshman Michelle Wie has been spotted on the university's golf course.

Alas, also spotted were Mr. and Mrs. Wie, who drove the cart while Michelle played nine. Soltau notes that as a freshman, Wie is required to live in an on-campus dorm. However, her parents have rented a nearby house. Hopefully Michelle will be allowed the space to enjoy the college experience, but, well ...

Wie cannot play golf for Stanford, since she's a professional. I recall speculation from several months ago that Wie would be named a volunteer assistant coach with the Cardinal golf teams in order to get her full access to the teams' practice facilities. No mention of that in Soltau's blog post, but he does note that she "will be allowed to use the course and practice facilities."

Let's hope that now that Wie is enrolled, she can safely navigate the Stanford campus. Without breaking her wrist.
