Europe Takes Lead Into Singles
The Solheim Cup four-ball matches were completed this morning, with two matches halved and Europe winning the other two. So Europe turned a 1-point deficit to the U.S. into a 1-point lead going into singles matches.
Here are the four-ball results:
- Paula Creamer/Brittany Lincicome, U.S., halved with Linda Wessberg/Maria Hjorth, Europe
- Juli Inkster/Stacy Prammanasudh, U.S., halved with Trish Johnson/Iben Tinning, Europe
- Becky Brewerton/Laura Davies, Europe, def. Natalie Gulbis/Nicole Castrale, U.S., 2-up
- Annika Sorenstam/Suzann Pettersen, Europe, def. Cristie Kerr/Morgan Pressel, U.S., 3 and 2
Europe was trailing late in the first two matches, but came back for halves in each. Tinning chippped in on No. 17 to halve the hole and even that match. In the other halve, Creamer and Lincicome both missed 3-foot putts on the 17th to lose the hole and their 1-up lead.
Dottie Pepper might have had tape over her mouth by that point to keep from blurting anything out, but she might have been thinking the same thing she inadvertently said on-air yesterday.
