Callaway Goes Teal to Support Cancer Research

As reported over on About.com, Callaway is coming out with specially marked, limited-edition versions of the FT-i driver, balls, hats and towels, as part of its Callaway Golf Foundation Women's Cancer Initiative.

The effort is one to raise awareness and funds to fight ovarian cancer, with actress Eva Longoria signed on to help publicize the effort.

Beginning Sept. 1, Callaway will make 1,000 FT-i drivers with teal markings available in retail outlets, each individually numbered. Here's how much each teal item will cost:

  • FT-i driver: $875
  • Balls: $35 per dozen
  • Hat: $15
  • Towel: $25

Any rich guys out there who can afford the driver, this is a good chance to get some golf gear and do a good deed. The rest of us can pick up one of the affordable items. Up to $200,000 from the proceeds of sales of these items will be given to ovarian cancer research.

This is also a good chance to do this:

Hey, it's a photo of the driver.

Driver ??
  There's a driver in that picture ???

I can see buying some balls and a hat...maybe a towel...but that's out of my range for a driver. (I'm guessing Eva won't be leaving Tony Parker for me anytime soon)

Thanks Callaway
As an Ovarian Cancer survivor I am thankful to Callaway for their support, and to Mr. Mulligan Stu for posting about their sponsorship. Hopefully, some of you rich dudes mr. Mulligan speaks of will pony up for a driver...or a hat, or a towel or some golfballs...or all of the above!

Nice guys who do good deeds do not finish last!

Thanks!

Thanks for the comment, Survivor
As pointed out the first time I posted about Callaway's effort (here), it is particularly important to take on this fight because there is no early detection test for this cancer. That's why so many women diagnosed with it are diagnosed too late, making ovarian cancer the most deadly gynecologic cancer. So c'mon guys (and girls) golfers, if you spot one of the (cheap) Callaway teal products, get yourself a new towel or cap, or get a box of balls, and help out. It's stuff you need anyway.

So where's the teal?
September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.  Callaway is well aware of this and say that they are pushing to get the special edition teal products on the shelves this month just for that reason.  We can't find them anywhere, yet....have you?

Best,
survivor
