Which American athletes made the most money in 2006? Tiger Woods is No. 1 according to Sports Illustrated's "The Fortunate 50" rankings.

Here are the Top 10, with total estimated income (salary, winnings, bonuses, endorsements and appearances) in 2006:

  1. Tiger Woods, $112 million
  2. Oscar De La Hoya, $55 million
  3. Phil Mickelson, $51 million
  4. Shaquille O'Neal, $35 million
  5. Kobe Bryant, $34 million
  6. LeBron James, $31 million
  7. Kevin Garnett, $29 million
  8. Derek Jeter, $29 million
  9. Alex Rodriguez, $28 million
  10. Dale Earnhardt Jr., $27 million
Only one other golfer made the list, and that golfer checks in at No. 22 with earnings of just over $20 million.

Who is it? Michelle Wie. You go girl!

SI also ranked the Top 20 international athletes, and Vijay Singh was No. 17 on that list with income of $16 million.
