Tiger Woods has a baby. Elin Woods gave birth to a daughter early Monday morning, Tiger announced in a note posted on his Web site late last night:
Elin and I are delighted to announce the birth of our daughter, Sam Alexis Woods. Sam was born early Monday morning, June 18. Both Elin and Sam are doing well and resting peacefully. We want to thank our doctors and the hospital staff for all their dedicated and hard work. This is truly a special time in our lives and we look forward to introducing Sam to our family and friends over the next few weeks. We thank everyone for their well wishes and continued respect of our privacy.
Tiger also says that photos will be made available shortly.
Woods' next scheduled tournament is his own tournament, the AT&T National, July 5-8. But he has said throughout Elin's pregnancy that he would wait until the last minute to decide whether he'll play that event. So long as Elin and Sam are both doing well in two weeks, I expect him to be in Washington, D.C., to play golf, then again the British Open later in July.
