Golf Blog Slog
Lots of good stuff around the golf blogosphere today. Here are some of the things Waggle Room's friends are writing about:
- Over at Armchair Golfer, AG has an interview with onetime U.S. Ryder Cup player Fred Hawkins. They talk about Hawkins' frequent rounds with Ben Hogan.
- The most recent episode of Golf Girl TV includes a "Jim Thorpe Putting Party." My favorite GGTV episode is the one in which Patricia talks about how much she likes Waggle Room. But only because of the other stuff in the episode. Yeah, that's the ticket.
- Eagle Par Birdie parses a newspaper column written by Colin Montgomerie after Monty's World Cup victory (partnering Marc Warren), filtering it through the prism of the Monty-Faldo rivalry.
- Terry Koehler, a k a The Wedge Guy, shares a short-game secret: quiet hands.
- Waggle Room diarist Bogey McDuff runs the Texas Golf blog in his spare time. Or maybe it's the other way around. Anyway, he writes about the indications that the Texas Open will move from its Fall spot on the PGA Tour schedule to take over the Spring slot currently held by the PODS Championship.
- Hound Dog just wrapped up a series of posts with thumbnail sketches of the LPGA players in his season-ending Top 30 rankings. Go to the main page and scroll down to see them all.
- At Going for the Green, Robert Thompson tells the tale of former Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and the 6-hole golf course he is having built on the grounds of his estate. Martin is in a bit of an embarrassing spot now because of some resulting environmental damage.
- David Dawsey at Golf Patents checks in on Callaway's latest patent filing related to liquid-filled golf balls.
- The Constructivist (who also posts here at WR), at Mostly Harmless, is hoping that Japan LPGA star Momoko Ueda hits American shores in 2008.
- Golf Spelled Backwards illustrates the monkey business taking place yesterday at the Nedbank Challenge in South Africa.
- Golfer's Delight has the announcement of the 2008 Snow Golf World Championship.
- Traveling Golfer points out a gadget called EEZ-Read that is supposed to read greens for you. No, it's not legal, and shame on you for asking!

EEZ-Read
What it seems best for is mental confirmation and confidence on the direction of break and, to some extent, the severity of that break, but you can get the same kind of information by rolling balls on the green, since you can't use the level during play.
