Kenny G Receives Sponsor Exemption

He's not one to toot his own horn, so Kenny G's sponsor exemption hasn't gotten much ink this week. But Kenny Gorelick - the superstar of easy listening, lounge-at-the-Holiday Inn jazz - is in the field at the Nationwide Tour's Mark Christopher Charity Classic this week.

And it's not the first time the G-Man has played this tournament. He was also in the 2005 event. Where, you won't be suprised to learn, he missed the cut. He shot 82-83 that year. (Gorelick is a scratch golfer and multiple club champion.)

Back in 2005, in announcing the previous exemption for Kenny G, tournament director Stephen Wagner said that Kenny's participation "elevates this tournament to new heights." Which I choose to interpret as a sly reference to elevator music.

To conserve energy for golf, Kenny will be observing the "no sax the night before a game" rule.
