Meanwhile, at the Mayakoba Golf Classic...
As the final matches of the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship are shaping up this weekend, another PGA TOUR event is taking place south of the border at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. The TOUR's only event in Mexico, the Mayakoba is also gearing up to an exciting - and record-breaking - finish.
According to the Golf Channel's Ryan Ballengee, Michael Allen, 53, has an opportunity to become the oldest PGA TOUR tournament winner in history. While most often seen playing on the Champions Tour, Allen is participating in what could be considered an "off tournament" for the PGA circuit as most of the world's best are busy at the WGC.
Allen currently sits at 8-under for the tournament after three rounds and is tied for fourth place. If he can go low on Sunday, Allen has a shot at breaking the age-record currently held by Sam Snead. Allen has never won a PGA TOUR event in 367 starts, however has won tournaments on the Champions, European, and Nationwide Tours.

Meanwhile back in the jungle
or in this case, Singapore – one of your own, won the HSBC Womens Champions today.
The Lone Star State’s own Angela Stanford won the HSBC on the third playoff hole at the magnificent Tanah Merah Country Club, beating the new Korean Kid on the block, Jenny Shin after a playoff that featured four of the best – old and new, from the LPGA..
Four players were tied after regulation play. Shanshan Feng was out after the first of the playoff holes with a three putt bogey and then N Y Choi was dismissed in the second of extra time after a missed green and resulting bogey after being in prime position on the fairway. Most unlike NY!
On the third and ultimately final hole, Stanford made a three footer that tried ever so hard to stay out, to beat Shin – Jenny, not Jiyai – after her par putt had lipped out from around five feet.
One of the LPGA’s flagship events with the best of the LPGA on show putting their best foot forward and what do we have?
Mayakoba, the second tier of the PGA Tour rates a mention on WR because of it’s star studded leaderboard.
Daniel Summerhays leads by two from Chris Stroud with the oldest bloke on the PGA Tour a shot further back.
Outstanding!!
