Any Golf Resolutions in 2012? Here are mine...

Seems like every year, we start off with a set of New Year's resolutions. Maybe its losing weight, or quitting smoking, or saving more money. We'll start with good intentions and then slowly, they'll fall by the wayside.

This year, I have one major resolution and I fully intend to keep it: I am going to play more golf. That will help with other goals too: getting more exercise, for example.

I've also resolved to work on my swing more often, meaning I will go to the driving range a couple of times a week and actually practice. Then I will go and re-groove a putting stroke that at times isn't all that bad. All of this will be done with the clubs I have, because if anything, time after time that new driver I just had to have didn't do much in the long run besides impress my friends with the fact I had the latest-greatest must-have club to replace the one before it, which once was the latest-greatest must-have club. The swing's the thing, not another shiny chunk of titanium.

All of these goals very possible, and all good for my body, my head and my game.

And I am going to do them. There is no try -- either do or not do, to quote the great philosopher Yoda Fett.

What about you -- do you have any golfing resolutions?

I have the exact same goal.

I’m also sitting at a 9.2. Good luck with your goal this season.

My list of Good Intentions….errr….Resolutions for 2012 have to start with health. I’m going to break out the Roger Fredricks discs to get myself more limber – maybe break out some small weights – try Diamond Dallas Page’s YRG fitness discs – and drop some tonnage. This is gettting ridiculous. Fitness is going to be a big key to being in the single digits and breaking 80 more often.

Good luck getting down to those 7’s guys ! We’ll be watching for updates.

May I suggest getting out your iPod, loading it with audiobooks, and walking two hours each day?

I’m able to walk much longer when I’m not bored. Audiobooks make the miles just fly by.

break 20

I finished 2011 with a 22.4 index, which is a couple of strokes lower than I started the year. Tomorrow is my last day of work — RETIREMENT — so I’ll have the time to get enough practice and repetitions to lower my scores. I’d be pleased if I could spend at least a portion of 2012 with an index below 20.

RETIREMENT ?? YOU ? What do the rest of the people who work for your company think of this ? Obviously they’ll have to close their doors without you around. :-)

Congratulations !! Your course will be naming the practice green after you by the end of 2012 after your scores and handicap drop below 20.

The closing doors will be locked so I can never get in again. In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m opinionated and WR hasn’t been the only place I’ve expressed them. 8-)

The only way anything will get named after me is if I buy the rights!

Congratulations for completing your career and moving on to better things — like lowering that handicap. Well done!
