Alex Miceli should be suspended...
There is no way for me to describe how angry I am with Alex Miceli this afternoon.
While the entire golfing community has been in shared sadness and hope at the news that Seve Ballesteros took a turn for the worst this morning - the idiot Miceli was allowed to roam freely and unchaperoned at Quail Hollow in his ridiculous bow tie - which, unfortunately, gave him access to players.
Since the report this morning of Seve's downturn, there have been no updates, and certainly no announcements of his death. That, however, didn't stop the intrepid Miceli, who caught up with Justin Rose after his round today. The idiot Miceli launched into questions about...you guessed it...the death of Seve Ballesteros. Rose, who mistakenly trusted Miceli's credentials for someone who knew what he was talking about and gave his reactions as if the questions were accurate.
After the interview, Rose tweeted his condolences - which started an avalanche of people either questioning the report, or just going along with the rumor and tweeting their own condolences and remembrances.
Apparently, actually having the facts straight isn't a part of Miceli's fantasy contract. He misinformed a player, who then misinformed millions of others on the internet.
Rose felt horrible, as you would expect. Miceli, on the other hand, proceeded to try to excuse himself and rationalize his incompetence.
I, for one, hope that xxx Golf Channel shows a slight bit of human dignity and corporate responsibility and punsihes Miceli. He has made a career out of ridiculing, berating, and generally trashing players performances and characters. It's time karma came back around and ripped him a new one. To say that he should be ashamed of himself is an understatement. For xxx Golf Channel to allow him to continue in his position without any sort of punishment is unthinkable. If they had the cojones to dump Jim Gray, Miceli deserves an extended unpaid vacation for this.
Sadly, I doubt xxx Golf Channel or any other media outlet Miceli works for will do anything. The media fraternity will sweep it under the rug.
Here are Justin Rose's tweets:

Just stepped off the course to hear about the death of Seve. One of my idols. What dignity and courage he showed thru what must be the hardest of times. That's when the true character of a man comes out. I saw how strong my dad was in his last days and I have no doubt Seve was the same. Sad day for golf.

As I stepped off I answered Q's on his death. From golf reporters! I feel terrible if I have jumped the gun. Was on course for 5 hrs... Thought that something like that should've been factual! Felt compelled to say something about the great man. #confused #thrownunderthebus

Guys, feel sick to my stomach about the mistake I made there. Please understand the circumstances in which I made my comment. Right off the course, circled by media, asking on my thoughts and memories of Seve. I am relieved to be wrong and I know this info has saddened a lot of people. I felt compelled to share my respect for him immediately. I never would have thought to confirm such a fact. #sorry. Apologies to the Ballesteros family.
And Miceli's horrible attempts at rationalizing what he had done: alexmiceli Alex Miceli @JustinRose99 I asked Justin about Seve's death. We got bad information and Justin got bad information from me. I apologize for that. alexmiceli Alex Miceli Clearly our world has changed, always trying to get the story immediately, but I should've known better. alexmiceli Alex Miceli It's clearly a mistake at this point and I apolgize to Justin and all those that read the tweet. alexmiceli Alex Miceli Justin Rose tweeted that Seve has died becuase of questions I asked him after his round.

I agree Court
Obviously he wants to get in first for the sake of his career. There are times when the media shows no dignity
Correction...
Most of the time. They wouldn’t know dignity if it hit them upside the head.

Hey Gnos...another topic here...I have a couple of friends
who were in NAWLINS for the Jazz fest last week…..They called my son and said they had gone to the Grocery twice to get Muffs…..And here we have Wendy and Easy trying to tell us their Butts are better then out Muffs…..ya right…..STUB
STUB
Well, it's like this
Americans take the most delicious pizza and then adulterate it with as many disgusting toppings as they can think of. They take a delicious Italian lunch of olives, ham, cheese, etc, all of which should be eaten separately in a civilised manner and then stuff the whole lot in a sandwich. You just never know when to stop, do you?
We keep it simple; bread, butter, bacon done according to taste (crispy, pls.) a touch of seasoning to one’s taste.
PS I would love to be able to get my hands on a Muff!!!!
Wendy darlin...should you ever get the chance to get to the "big Easy"...no pun intended
you would have to go to the Grocery for lunch….Have a most delicious taste bud treat, with a “Muff” and a cold one….you would almost think you’d died and gone to the big restaurant in the sky….Then, hit Bourban street until about 6pm….Go take a nap, come back until about 2pm…then go and get some a them “Ben-yays”, and blow powderd sugar over each other….Them and some Honey…..Oh man, I is slobbering on the Key board jist typin this……And as far as a Pizza goes….It’s hands down, Chicago style with more meat than you’d probably eat in a week….@ types of cheese, Tomato sauce and ya has to eat it with a forkl……Even Sir would think it’s great…..STUB

What's Q.E.D pls?..
not in my vocabulary…since we spekada Inglish here….STUB

Don't you ever Google anything?
Q.E.D. = my case is proven – you eat too much. e.g. why would I want more MEAT on a pizza than I woud probably eat in a week? Sheer gluttony.
WELLLLLLLL pardon me....why more meat? If you go back in
ENGLISH histosry, you will see all the Kings, Knights and other Royal alway chewing on a big leg of some kind….Meat is what makes the world go round….A bone in Ribeye, Medium Rare, baked potato with 1/2 lb butter, and an un ending supply of cold ones (martinis)….Jist can’t get any better than that….And What the heck ya got against meat anyway?….Have you ever had a Chicago style Pizza?…Iffin ya ain’t, don’t knock it…..Nothing like those Juices running down yur chin….WOW Dawgie…..STUB

Gnos - I take enough stick on this site
so I feel free to tease about American food. I mean a burger pizza, honestly ;o)
American food is indeed absolutely delicious, but I find the choice and portions bewildering. A pastrami sandwich I was given in Chicago would have fed a family. If I had eaten all the incredible breakfasts I was offered on a skiing holiday in Colorado, after 2 days I would have brought the chairlift down. Pity about your coffee though. Never once had a decent one.
I'm with you there Wendy...............
Huge portions!!! Sometimes the appetizer alone is enough. My sister-in -law ordered a rib-eye out there once and when it came she felt like she’d been given a whole cow!!!.Service is great though I have to say plus I can order a Margharita there with total confidence!! Wouldn’t dream of it in my local.:0)

I'm with you on the service & Margharitas, Scrums
I’m tempted to say in US restaurants, the tip one is expected to leave is extortionate by European standards, so expect great service, but service is equally great in shops, ski-resort staff, etc, where no tip given.
Aww gee wizards Wendy.
Quit yer squaking and drive through the local Mc Donalds, get yourself a “Happy Meal”, pour yourself a drink, and pull up a chair in your garden and enjoy. :o)

I'm sure there must be a drive-through
McDonalds in UK – but I’ve never seen one. However, I’ll make my own burgers (much nicer) and take your advice re the drink in the garden. Photo follows. Squawk, squawk ;o)
Yes 15%-20% is steamy...............
but all in all I agree that our colonial cousins ;0) sure know how to treat customers,in some places in the UK it’s like pulling teeth!!

The reason tipping is now 20-25% is..
Because the wait staff only gets paid minimum wage which is about $7.35 an hour I think.
"pain is only weakness leaving the body" jumpn
Same here re meany restaurant wages
I always look to see if it’s voluntary – if not , mentally add it on to judge whether good value or not. I’ll only pay 10% if OK service. 15% if good, (cash if possible) – more is blackmail. The more you tip the staff, the more the management get away with paying minimum (or below) wages. Tipping is banned/considered insulting in some countries – how I wish that was universal.
OK, I would agree, but how's the service where it's banned
or insulting?….I tip to let the server know that I enjoyed – appreciated the service He-She gave me…I also leave cash, rather than add to bill….that way I know server got it….STUB

I agree totally
Food portions in the US have grown far too large at most restaurants, so much so that now a days I eat half and take the rest home.

c1900. We have a saying about houses like ours – “It’s like maintaining the Forth Bridge”, i.e. constant maintenance. Good thing I’m handy at painting & decorating, isn’t it? Chimneys need repointing – next on list.
Huh – coming from someone with 2 homes and a yacht – we’re beggars!
I suppose your going to repoint the chimmneys yourself?...let me know when, and I
come to take pictures….ALL homes need constant maintenance…I once made the mistake of saying houses were like women…Both High mainenance….had hot tongue and cold shoulder for dinner about 1 week….Will be laying eyes on her and feet on deck this Wednesday if all goes well….Broker in Spokan Washington has 2 buyers should I want to sell….I told her, let me at least walk the deck first….STUB

Your old eyes are playing up
The lilac is (was, ‘cos I’ve changed the pic) in the middle; the big tree to the right is the magnolia – because it’s further up the garden than the lilac it looks bigger than it is – plus I’m a lousy photographer.
We have a couple of open fires/real chimneys
thought we would convert to gas fires (hey, we can move into the 20th, um 21st C), but discovered cracks in one chimney caused by the severe temperatures/ice this Jan. I don’t have any problem going up ladders, STUB, but I’ve sure as hell discovered I have problems climbing off the roof onto them – vertigo!! I am definitely a low maintenance female ( don’t even bother to remove the dirt under my fingernails before making dinner)For heaven’s sake post a pic of the beauty before you sell her!!
You know, I just thought of that...built when it was, you have no central
heat of Air conditioning systems….Fire places only….Damm, talk of the lack of modern conveniences….has to be a killer…Do you split and pile all your own wood too, or does Sir help with that….Cracks from last Winter…hey, those bricks have to be fragile as birds eggs…Better off tearing them down and use modern material to rebuild….Don’t worry, I ain’t selling….I’m cheap…when I get a bargin, I wear the hell out of it….My one son is going to Miami with me, as he says, to keep me from doing anything more stupid….Oh well, they haven’t commited me yet, so it’s full speed ahead, and damm the pregnant women….or something like that…I can’t remember exactly anymore….But I will have another Martini, thank E kindly….STUB

Stubbo,

Of course we have central heating
We simply have two open fireplaces in addition which are useful during power cuts and decorative say, at Christmas/New Year. We cheat and buy the logs.
Nothing wrong with the bricks – they’ll last for at least another 100 yrs; just a small crack in the top rendering, but can’t take the risk of the crack worsening. The devil is that it’s going to cost a fortune to put up the scaffolding to get to them!
Hope you have a great time on the boat.
WELL, did the BRICKS themselves crack, or just the morter.?...How many courses
have to be taken down…..better get 2 estimates…You want pics of what the “hey you” looks like…You can see now…Do your google thing….go to Mfg Passport Yachts…When it comes up, scroll down to Passport Construction….should be 6th one down… Right now, I’m like a kid in a candy store….nose pressed against the glass, can’t make up my mind which one to spend my pennys on….STUB

Wendy I know what you mean about maintenance
My origional house up in New Hampshire was a 1889 Victorian. Needed to be painted every 3 years due to the salt air, always chimney issues, creaking wide pine floors and yada yada yada. A true to life Money Pit it was. Glad I dumped it before the market crashed. Now we have a much humbler home up there. Basic four bedroom Cape Cod Style with vinyl siding and little to no maintenance.

Phew, Pro! Every 10 yrs. here thank goodness.
First problem we have ever had with the chimneys though. We put it on the market last year and sold it twice over at the asking price, but couldn’t find anything we liked. So we’re staying put until something leaps at us.
Why don't you hire an Architect, draw one up and build?
That way you can have exactly what you want….Greenhouse, garden, servents quarters, stables, GOR-MAY kitchen, His – Her loos, etc…best way to get the acreage with a view that you want….STUB
