How is your game going ?

Now that we are well into Spring (the Northern hemosphere anyway, sorry Chip ) it's that time again when club golfers everywhere jump out of the blocks. What will the season hold for you ? A drop in handicap ? A club trophy maybe ? Or a hole in one ? Whatever happens this year, I hope you all play well and enjoy each round as much as one can...and some won't be that good. But it is still a privlidge to play the game..we are lucky that we can play it. Next time you hit one OOB ( as I did today ) try to accept it, and do better next time. Best of luck everyone, play well.

I know Singapore is tropical – but isn’t it also in the northern hemisphere ? or is Chip visiting that upside down country ? :-)

My game ? good and bad. Played a tournament over the weekend and hit the ball as well as I have ever hit it…just couldn’t get the ball in the hole. Even had a friend who is a PGA pro who doesn’t play much anymore in our group and he was complimenting me on how good my swing looked….and then we added up the scores. Nightmarish short game – most pitch shots were on severe uphill lies and I mucked every one of them up.

So it is ! By a few hundred miles, lol

Glad you are hitting it well…as always, it’s the bloody short game. I shot a 77 yesterday, played great. Today in the medal, I played the same…except I got an 8 on a par 5 when I hit one OOB. It hit a tree inbounds and bounced off it OOB. Played to handicap though, so I was pleased enough.

well clearly that tree should be cut down as soon as possible ! :-)

Sounds like a couple of good rounds, even with that illegally planted tree.

I wish I had more time

I played up in New Ham 3 times over the last 2 weeks while on vacation. Muddy conditions with all the rain they have had up there, but I won’t complain, just good to be playing.

took ’em a while to get the snow plowed off the fairways, eh ? :-) Glad you finally got to tee it up. How is the remodelling job coming along ?

Don't get anxious STUB

Chip said she would be out of touch for 10 days or so whilst she enjoys herself at Pebble & Scotsdale. Of course, she might meet some charmer there (who DOES join her for a round of golf).

here in the midwest

I’ve been rained out more than I’ve been able to play. When I do get out it’s Mudza Ball time.

Sounds like you need a trip to sunny Florida. Sorry you’re caught in this nasty weather cycle. It has to clear up soon, right ?

Hi Diane, good to hear from you!

The weather the world over has been really crazy for the last few months. Here in UK we’ve had our hottest April in (they say) 300 years, and before anyone says “that don’t mean much”, the temperatures have been in the mid-60’s.

Trying to catch up with you on Fantasy, Diane.

by WendyUK on May 5, 2011 10:05 AM EDT up reply actions

Wendy, you absolutely have to be doing better

than I am in Fantasy.

We just completed the first 24-hour period without measurable rain in almost a month. Twice during that period we’ve had a cold front park itself over the top of Cincinnati several days at a time. It’s looking like we’ll get another stationary front starting again tomorrow. Fantasy is looking like the only golf I’ll be playing for quite some time.

You know, weather is a facinating thing.

But here in the UK, I think we have great all round weather. We never get tornados really, not much of any earthquake. It never really rains for too long, even though lowlands floods sometimes. It gets hot too, we have great beaches, but nothing like Florida. Apart from 12 weeks snow in the last 3 years, we play golf all year round. During the Open in July, it might be hot, it might be cold and raining, windy etc. Who knows ? But some of the weather you lot get in the US I would never want . Feel lucky here really.

by Easingwold on May 6, 2011 3:18 AM EDT up reply actions

i shouldn't complain

No tornadoes here and we’re far enough above the river we’ll never flood.

Nope - I'm not!

Did you play Laird +6, Casey +6, McIlroy +3? No, you did not. (Plus I didn’t get home in time today to change my team).

Beautiful weather today, 70C, but my real golf was no better than my Fantasy play. Ah well, there’s always tomorrow.

by WendyUK on May 6, 2011 11:13 AM EDT up reply actions

Easing - I hit some superb shots today

(always by my own standards of course), mainly the drives, hit some horrors, had a couple of bad bits of luck, chipping and putting pathetic – oh boy does it add up. Lucky to be playing at all of course – and I know it. Well, you did ask how our games were going!

Nice one Wendy !

Keep at it. Glad you doing well…won’t be long until Bournemouth !

Unable to deny it

I so want to crow when my actives beat my bench – hasn’t happened to date. Husband actually beginning to feel sorry he uttered those prophetic words (or so he says). I detect a smirk, especially as he beat me fair and square today at golf.

by WendyUK on May 6, 2011 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions

I so hate it when the hole is mine

by dint of my better drive/approach shot and then the lucky B…….chips it in to match or beat me! ‘Fess up – we all hate those lucky shots – unless they’re ours of course.

Play the course

not your good man. You will play better that way ! Just don’t when we tee it up :)

Oh, yeah. I am doing sooooo much better than you are

McIlroy (3)
Curtis (3)
Barnes (+5)

My good fortune: I swapped Mickelson for Barnes today.

I know - I follow your team

but + 15 beats (?) +11 any day. My pathetic excuse (time zones) is that I have to go to bed before the tournaments are finished, & sometimes don’t have time in the morning or get back in time (like today) to make changes. Other than that, I accept the soubriquet of “Great team, crap manager”.

by WendyUK on May 6, 2011 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions

I feel your pain, Wendy

The same thing happens to me when the Tour is in Hawaii and even when they’re in California. I understand exactly how you feel

The weather has improved here. I expect to get at least 9-holes completed tomorrow, maybe even 18! Hopefully the thunder-bumpers will decide to wait an extra couple of hours before popping up in the afternoon.
