Malaysia Open and the M’s have it.
Matteo Manessero today became the second youngest to ever win a Euro Tour event in the final round of today’s Maybank Malysian Open. The funny thing is, is that he is also the youngest to ever win on the Euro Tour!
Rory McIlroy finished third after having a chance on the par 5 18th to force a play off. Instead of that playoff, he three putted and finished third behind Gregory Bourdey from France. That three putt cost him 84,000 Euros. Ouch! It wasn’t his first for the day either. He three putted on twelve and earlier in the day, when finishing up the rain delayed third round, had an inglorious four putt.
The day belonged to Matteo however. The man from Verona (someone should do a play about that) played almost flawless golf that belie his tender years. It’s sometimes hard to remember that the lad only turns 18 on Tuesday. His demeanour on the golf course, his shotmaking and his course management, have me thinking of a tour seasoned pro who has been out there for years and yet he’s not quite 18!
So here we have it – two young men with the world at their feet. One could do with another 20 or so yards off the tee and the other, a more reliable putting stroke. Wouldn’t it be great if both could do both? Or perhaps they will do what they will and still become the great players that they are promising to be. Either way, the game of golf is in good hands with these youngsters.

Gee ta Stubb!
I just thought that Adam was getting a little snowed under as he seems to be holding the fort on his lonesome.
And after all, it was in my neck of the woods and I did watch most of it, albeit recorded.

All we got here, was the re-gerg-a-tat-ed drivvel from the GC
and that was just as an aside….Adam snowed under?….Naaaaa !….don’t you remember, he doesn’t really do the work when he is “t work”…just watches sports events on his computer…That’s the one paid for by his employer….But, live and let live I always say…
I agree on these “kids”…Mature beyond their years….Tell me…As you watched, did you get the feeling that Rory was pressing a bit, or not?….From what you say, his flat stick let him down again…I have always found that when your pressing…that’s the first thing to fail…He has too much talent not to be able to close the deal….Yur…STUB

I did post a report after the 2nd round..
was going to do the final round, but Chip beat me to it. Gotta say thanks, saved me the trouble after a few beers :)
Well done, Matteo
& what a charming young man to boot.
No nervous snap-hooks from Rory, but the putter was cold today.
Do we see where that may begin to be a problem and have someone
looking at it?…If you leave the putter cold, it usually stays thay way, as the confidence wayns…Oh, and how was that Gardening show ya went to….learn anything? or was it just to goof off….STUB
STUB
Gardening Show?
Could that have been a Botanical Art Exhibition? If so, didn’t buy anything this time. I went on a botanical art course once and learnt a lot – like I was next to useless. Drawing plans are totally different, thank goodness.
Yea, that one...Well, that's OK...Didn't cost Sir a lot of
money that way..And, you make money drawing plans for a Proper English Garden…Oh, and they just finished in SAN-TON..(that’s how to pronounce it for you non English speaking persons…..Guess where your Stinky Cinky finished ….+6…I thought you said he was re-ded-a-kat-ing himself to get back on top…And just what are these “butties” you and Easy talk about?….SUB.
STUB
I buy my own artwork, thank you
& Sir has no say in it. Didn’t have Stewart in my Fantasy Team (although I might just as well have done).
Butties/sarnies are sandwiches as you well know by now. The unhealthy & popular versions, particularly after a game of golf, are bacon, banger, or fried egg. No lettuce.
I'm supposed to be working on my game
and you’re supposed to be losing weight. Bacon OR egg you mean ;o)
Don't worry about his weight...the more he pack on, the more tired
he’s goona get draggin at around in the August heat….Chip is waiting, so break down yur game for her…Sandwiches here, are usually lunch meat, (ham, turkey, chicken etc) not Eggs…And why are they called Bangers…The name is SAUSAGE….Ok Chip over to you….GO LIL WENDY….STUB

14 stone ? yea right...hahahahaha !
that’s only with 1 leg on the scale….jist keep swillin that Ale podner, and we’ll weigh ya jist afor the fight…err..match…Mustard on Bacon? Shurly you jest….yucko….Ok, lets here about the round…never mind that looser Easy….He’s jist trying to muddy the water….Chip, get the goods on her round and pass it to Scrums…..GO LIL WENDY…STUB

Agree with you that if this is an identified weakness
then the sooner he addresses it the better. Lee Westwood, for example, has had to address his short game – no shame in seeking to improve.
Matteo has a great temprement............
not 18 yet hes still a growing lad so I think he’ll eventually gain those 20 yards.Rory and Lee have the same problem -short stick woes no doubt.Matteo now qualified for all remaining majors this year.Lets see how he goes!! Great win for him.

All these young players are incredible
and wonderful to watch. Just let’s not call them “phenoms” or try to make them into the next Tiger Woods. Let them play their own game and come on at their own pace.
Yep theyre not Tiger........
Rory has had to deal with a lot of expectation, maybe too much.Matteo may have to deal with the same thing?? Great youngsters so the future looks good.

The way things are going here I’ll be lucky to break 100 ! Good job I believe in myself. I’ll tell you what. Put your money where your mouths are and place your bets. Let Jumpin do the odds and the winner send the winnings to Children in need…a great charity…the kids win and we can smile, win or lose. Either way, I’m getting my pint :)
Bad spelling,sorry Eas..............
And Eas I am pulling for you buddy………..it’s just that my fiver would have to go on the lady!!!!!

I'd suggest that I'm the one
who feels under pressure! Stop encouraging them for heaven’s sake, Easing ;o
Already do light weightlifting with dumbells
Only 8 exercises with 20 repetitions of only 2.5 kilos each bell. No longer try to move onto the 5 kilo rota as I pulled a muscle each time I did so. Plus sit-ups. Only use treadmill now if I can’t play golf due to weather. Still wouldn’t be able to run for a bus though!
Dont forget the rowing machine, want you as fit as Suzann Pettersen running after a skidoo.;0)

Actually I think that may have been a quote from Princess Anne? No matter. Same message – different spelling.
