Day Four.....Good Lord!!!!
The guy who many feel doesn't deserve a mention has a distinctive flair for the dramatic. -5 after 8 holes has put him ONE off the lead. And what of Wee Mac (I saw that over at that other blog this morning....cute huh?). Well, he's +1... I know all you fellow American waggleroomers are pulling for an American to win. OK, maybe not all of you. Still a long way to go. My guess is there are some sponsors smiling at the moment.... Rory, Angel, Charl, K.J and Jason are wonderful talents and may indeed be hosting the champions dinner next year. But this is business on a grand scale, it's not arcane golf for the waggleroom elite. You know who will keep that audience tuned in, and that includes all those who think "Angel" is pronounced as in "Touch by an......"

Ping...
please stop being paranoid about viewership and sponsors. Golf is bigger than it ever was. Bigger than 2 years ago when Woods hit the skids. It doesn’t need Woods winning to grow…it is anyway. Golf was brilliant today…best drama in years on that back 9.
Simply put Easingwold,
without sponsors and viewers there would be no professional televised golf. Please note I did not say there would be no golf. I agree, golf does not need Tiger to grow, but it needs personalities…I give you the phenomenon of Rickie Fowler as an example. If you don’t think Tiger Woods performance was important to the success of Sunday’s broadcast, nothing I say is going to change your mind and I guarantee you’re VERY unlikely to anything like that here. But, as I’ve said before, agreement does not necessarily equal truth.
Rickie Fowler, a phenomenon ?
Sounds a desperate description of someone who has not won a tournament of figured in a major. This sponsor/televised golf…I take it you mean United States golf ? I can’t help thinking you don’t look outside your borders. Woods has flair on the golf course, but I have seen more personality in a tree. American golf, by and large, is stale at times, apart from the biggest events. Time the tour was trimmed down and join a world tour. There is too much golf in America, half the events never have the top players in, it’ll only get worse as more non Americans win Have of the events should be cast aside.
Easingwold, please stop being paranoid about the number of tournaments and this "world tour" thing....
It is a desparate description! Rickie has a very thin resume’ but HE’S on the cover of Golf Magazine…. Yes, I meant televised golf i the US. We don’t have the “benefit” of government subsidized TV… Stale golf in the US? Maybe you missed those nail biters: The African Open, the Arantha Masters, the Siclian Open and the Open de Andalucia. First you tell us golf is bigger than ever and then recommend cutting in half….
A world tour would thin out all the present tours.
Including Europe. People who see a world tour know that. Some Americans don’t look beyond their shores, which is a pity.
Ricky Fowler on the cover of a magazine sells the magazine, if kids buy it. Nothing really to do with golf so much. This obsession with selling golf to a saturated public in America will work when the product is better. Americans want more home winners than they are getting to switch on.
In case you didn’t realise, our televised golf is Sky Sports, a private company, suscribers like myself pay 60 dollars a month for.
Is it just me or are you becoming more anti-American with each passing day????
BTW- “BUY IT”…..That’s what’s important….
I'm not anti American, as you well know
But the wrold does not revolve around America, even if a good chunk of it’s inahbitants might think so.
On the issue of buying it..it’s not the be all end all.
Rickie is American,Rory is Irish...........both appeal to the youngsters......
Nationality is not an issue.Only difference Rory has won tournaments and contended in majors.I hope Rickie does as well,The future of golf is fine and Charl Schwartzel said it well.‘America is a big place but the world is even bigger’.

That's where you're dead wrong! Buying it IS the be all and end all.

Hey Easy, Scrum...I hope you have your salt shakers
handy…(no pun intended)….Your going to need them to swallow what Ol Ping-a-ling is trying to sell…Be carefull of the pits in that be-all and end-all stuff…it doen’t make the medicine go down as the song goes….IMHO…STUB
STUB
EZ:
Those TM irons you play… you did buy them right?
Of course
But your point has always been golf need Woods winning and dominating for American TV so golf can flourish there. I’d argue the opposite..young players to start winning the majors and capture the next generation, no matter where they are from. Your panic seems to come from there is no American to replace Woods and Mickleson. They have had a great run, but it’s time to move on. This years final round was the most exciting for 25 years and an Ameircan didn’t win. Golf did though, and that is the point.
RIVETING!!
Eh, pingofrever….A smorgasbord of golf talent coming down the back nine late in the day. Without a doubt one of the best Master’s on record. Who banged in four birdies in the final four holes? Whose done that of late or ever? Well we know it wasn’t you know who. Talk about the agony and ecstasy of winning and losing. Shakespeare could not have written a better hero/tragedy drama. The best golfer of the tournament won. Congrats to Charl S.
