Tiger Woods crashes Twitter while pitching video golf game
Tiger Woods took to Twitter on Wednesday to pitch the upcoming release of his video golf game, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters. Shortly afterward, Twitter crashed. Coincidence? Yeah, probably, but that’s what happened this afternoon, so you never know.
Woods spent a scintillating chunk of time (27 minutes by the AP’s Doug Ferguson’s estimation) answering questions from his followers. Not surprisingly, each Q&A touched on his video game -- so much so that it was easy to imagine some of the questions being set-ups.
I mean, “can practicing on Wii improve or hurt my real swing?” Really? (Tiger’s answer, by the way -- “Any way you can build muscle memory is a good thing.” Agree or disagree -- in 25 words or less?)
Get out the Four Loco. Here’s a look at some of the back and forth between Woods and his tweeps:
Twitter was just one promotional stop on the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 road show, as the world’s No. 5 golfer will take his shilling skills to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Wednesday and Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Thursday.
Woods, who lost to Fallon when they played Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on Wii in 2009, was expected to join his host for a game of miniature golf, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The reason for Woods’ infomercials? EA Sports’ official North American release date for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii editions of the game is March 29.

That’s funny – Twitter’s been up and down all day – pretty funny if him showing up really did overload the system
I'm not saying you are stupid, I just said that you have bad luck when you're thinking ! -- Lord Stewie
I would have thought those in Japan
might have overloaded it. One of the few ways some can communicate.
This is actually a very good point.

"can practicing on Wii improve or hurt my real swing?"
Is it just me, or does playing Tiger Woods on the Wii make your shoulder hurt? I could play 36 holes in real golf and never have the issues after playing 18 virtual holes on the Wii.
