The only defense needed for Tavistock ? Charity
Here's a terrific article by Alex Perry, a guest writer for Golfmagic.com, on the legitimacy of the Tavistock Cup. He takes some very good shots at useless "journalists" like Ron Sirak who think they are too big to go along with the fun of an event like Tavistock.
This was put together for one reason and one reason only - to raise money for charity. These guys could go home and relax. They could go straight to Tampa to prepare. But they take two days and use their talents to raise money for a Children's hospital. Before this past Monday, they had raised more than $8 million, with several more million coming in this week.
On top of the money raisedfor the Children's Hospital, they took up a second collection to be sent for aid to Japan. According to Ian Poulter on Twitter - the spur of the moment idea raised another considerable sum.
So Ron Sirak - just stay home. Forget golf exists. You're a miserable human being. And Alex Micelli, on Morning Drive today ? Go sit with Sirak. Tell the kids and their parents that the Tavistock Cup is useless. Then go to Japan with the same question. If Micelli wants to play politically correct cames by demanding "transparency", head over to Washington DC and talk to your hero Barry, who is the only one who has promised "transparency". Ask HIM where his promise is. Tavistock never made any such claim - they just send checks to the hospital every year.

Why, oh why?
I’m happily reading along – yup, just stop carping you lot about Tavistock, and then you have to go and throw in your usual totally irrelevant political barb. Surely you realise by now that nothing you say will sway anyone in regard to their persuasion for/against Obama? So why do you have to spoil a perfectly good article with such pathetic digs?
