Next up for PGA champ Keegan Bradley: The Truth
After experiencing the thrills of a lifetime when he threw out the first pitch at a Boston Red Sox game and flipped the coin in a pre-season warmup for the New England Patriots, PGA champ and New England native Keegan Bradley may have his sights set on banking home a three-pointer at halftime of a Boston Celtics tilt.
"good to hear your golf game is staying sharp," Bradley tweeted to Celtics captain Paul Pierce (aka "The Truth") on Monday. "Let's t it up kid!! #celtics #obsession #mvp"
Bradley, a Boston homer who tweeted his dismay when his beloved Sox coughed up their chances for a post-season berth, was no doubt responding to a Twitter blast from Pierce, in which the NBA All-Star boasted about his golf game.
"don’t mean to brag," tweeted Pierce on Monday, "but I have to say my golf game is gettin pretty solid."

It seems Pierce’s teammate, renowned low-handicapper Ray Allen, is not the only Celt to take to the links. The 33-year-old Pierce -- who may not see the inside of Boston Garden this season unless the league ends its three-month player lockout -- blogged that he was getting his game in shape to tee it up with Bradley and the rest of the pros at next year’s Deutsche Bank Championship.
"I feel lucky that I got to play so much this summer, hit a lot of balls, and check out a few different courses," Pierce typed. "Pretty soon I’ll be ready to get into some live competition like [NBA Hall of Famer Charles] Barkley and [last week’s PGA Tour tournament host] Justin Timberlake.
"And who knows," Pierce added, "maybe next year you’ll see me go stroke for stroke with the pros at the DBC."
Pierce rhapsodized about the serenity of golf and the benefits it offers.
"I enjoy the game -- it’s relaxing and gets me to loosen up. There’s something about being outdoors -- the quiet around you, taking it at your own speed," Pierce wrote. "golf is easy on the body, and still a great form of exercise. It’s one of those things that you can do from age 5 to 85 -- or at least I’m plannin on it."
While Pierce encouraged kids to take up golf for fun and health ("After 18 holes of walking the course, I doubt anyone is sayin they’re not tired….and you’ll feel it in your shoulders the next day, too"), the Celtics champ assured fans he was not about to give up his day job.
"Sometimes it’s a nice break from four intense quarters of ball at the Garden, but we all know I would never change my job for anything in the world," Pierce said. "I do love golf, but ya’ll know my calling is basketball....So while golf is a nice break sometimes, hoops will always be my number one."
Should Pierce take Bradley up on his invitation to join him and Pats QB Tom Brady on the tee, the two-time tour victor would still have room for one more in his foursome. We hear Boston Bruins Stanley Cup champ Marc Savard is a scratch golfer.

So, Charles....
Is “chokin’ freakin’ dogs” now on the approved list for name calling? I’m sure Emily is just frustrated, but similar frustration got Handi and Easy banned.
The Saints were the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS for a year...hope I don't have to wait another 44 years for #2....WHO DAT!......:)
Thanks, my dear friend!
But, let it flow from your mind as you exhale all negativity out into the immensity of the cosmos. As we all are, Emily is entitled to her occasional frustration and name calling, as long as she doesn’t direct it at those of us who were thrilled that our beloved Rangers could wave at their disappointment in our collective rear view mirrors. RIP Red Sox 2011 :-(?

Rangers looking good!! Love Josh Hamilton.

"chokin’ freakin’ dogs"
If it’s good enought for Dottie Pepper on national TV, it’s good enough for Emily here at WR…. besides, "chokin’ freakin’ dogs" has become part of the golf lexicon
Become part of the golfing lexicon??
I would hope not. Dottie Pepper has no class and if what she said becomes even remotely acceptable, then the game is in real trouble.
Chip.....
Great comment. It seems that name calling is acceptable from our writers. CB had some not so classy words for Webb Simpson a couple of weeks ago. I had to bite my tongue to keep from getting banned. Tongue is healing fine.

Tough call.....
I can’t get my foot into the same time zone as my mouth…….not a limber as I once was. I’ll try my shoe….:)

I have to go with Pinger here, CnP. “Chokin’ Freakin’ Dog” is something I hear during just about every round of golf I play. Someone hits a bad shot or misses what seems to be a n easy putt – they call themselves a “C-F-D”.
Dottie may be a horrible broadcaster, but I can’t agree that she has no class. That statement wasn’t intended to go out over the air. She is a fierce competitor – especially in team events. I dare say that we all have gotten mad at “our team” and yelled at them during a game when they screwed up or weren’t giving their best.
However – I do agree with CnP that the phrase is classless when used by someome who is supposed to be a professional journalist.
If at first you don't secede, try try again
The point about the term Pepper used
is that did any of the team forgive her for spewing out her infamous phrase ? If any team memeber is trying their best, that is good enough. Pepper was out of order. Some, may like her competive nature, but she never had much class. The phrase only confirmed that.
Ooops!
I’ve got a soft spot for Dottie because I do like her competetive nature. Plus you almost certaintly wouldn’t like to hear my post mortem comments on Arsenal’s peformance of late. “CFD” would be mild by comparison – but of course uttered in the privacy of my own " parlour".
I hear you
But she is no more competitive than Laura Davis, she just shouts about it more. Maybe she gets more notice that way ? I understand the Arsenal thing..but they owe the fans 100 % if they are not giving their all…I don’t think that applied to the US team Pepper was so angry at.
What does Pepper shout about more than Davies ? Do you really believe Davies doesn’t shout at the TV when her teams don’t play well ? I gets upset at herself on the golf course like anybody else.
“Choking Freaking Dogs” was just something she said when the US team wasn’t playing well and her microphone was supposed to be turned off.
About being “forgiven” by the players – I seriously doubt any of them give it a second thought these days, but I don’t remember anyone going to the players on that team to ask if the have “forgiven” her for saying that – but you can bet that they have heard worse things in their careers than that.
I’ve met her a few times over the years as far back as her playing days – she’s actually very nice. Even stopped for several fans this past January at the PGA Merchandise Show when she was busy talking with a manufacturer about a rather goofy putter.
If at first you don't secede, try try again
Don't you think
you’re taking things far too seriously these days, Court.?
Anyway, that’s two of us who like Dottie & being outnumbered is no problem, is it?
Pepper did shout more than Davis.
When she called them chokin’ dogs (nerves) she would be lucky one of them didn’t go up to her and smack her in the mouth. She also missed a few in her time…she didn’t win every match, did she ? Frustrated, I imagine commentating, when she would rather be playing for sure. But that’s no excuse for what she said. But it is done and she can’t take it back, can she. I bet she regrets saying it.
Americans seem less tolerant of their "losers"?
OK – Maybe Dottie is more strident in her language.
I suspect that the more UK accepts it’s lowered position in world power rankings, the more it delights in it’s golf rankings ;o)
We don't like losing either Wendy.
What I can’t tolerate is the well paid stars not giving 100% every time. It’s ok to lose if one gives their very best. Tevez comes to mind.
The point I was originally
trying to make was the use of the term on this blog. I would assume had I used the term to criticize an article by any of the writers or about any of my fellow bloggers…….BAM!…..the old ban hammer right on top of my head. You’re outta there. I just think the same rules should be used by all…..silly me.

Ping......
I’d say the your Colts are kinda missing that Manning guy……incredible what a difference he makes. Without Brees the Saints would probably be winless too.

Should be a good game,
Florida is without their starting QB, but it still should be a good game. Bama is who has me worried……they looked very good against Florida. Stub is doing fine. Haven’t talked to him this week. I send him an email and let him know you asked about him.

We are on course Eas,however............................
As much as I think we have a good young side-they are young and the Irish are experienced and streetwise a lot of whom are in ‘the last chance saloon’.Don’t see a lot of them being around in the next RWC so I think they’ll take it-just!!!

He's already boasted about it!
I like provoking him by telling him “Rhubarb, Rhubarb, I’m not listening, I’m not listening, Go AWAY!” I’m really just try to punish him for all his barbs about my football team of course.
Thanks Em-hope Stub ain't a Cowboys fan.................
Watched the game against the Lions live on Skysports………Now that was heck of a comeback.
Like I said before gotta support the Gators as my friends are nuts about them!!!
You more scared of drowning huh……………:0)

Hi Scrums
Hoped you’d spot the post as you haven’t been around for a while. Many congratulations on a magnificent win for Wales. I confess I only saw the second half (6.00 a.m. on a Saturday morning not my best time), but ’m glad I did.
Yup, I would have put money on Ireland & England too. We were bloody awful in the first half and we know that France can play when they have a mind to. Wales & Blacks for final?
Yes, there’s a gloating froggie in the house – ground glass for dinner!
Tell Sir that if France beat us in the semis...............
I will be shouting Allez Les Bleus in the final…….Come on the Northern guys.:0)

He's always had a soft spot
for Wales, anyway. Weird considering that he was engaged to a Scottish lass until I came on the scene.
Scrums....Stub said to
tell you hi, and that you still owed him a few pints…….:)

Heartbreak!
You woz robbed, robbed!!! Even Sir was supporting Wales until one of the stupid commentors irritated him so much he switched back to France. One point, one point.
But Allez Les Bleues now all the way! Take down them Blacks!!
Hi Wendy.............gutted!!!!
I’m on holiday so didnt see the game…………got lots of texts though sayin just what you said…………Warburton is not a dirty player.Still hope Les Bleus does it for the North though…Vincent Clerc milked it I heard…..like soccer!!!
by scrumsndswings on Oct 17, 2011 5:27 PM EDT up reply actions
What! You didn't see it!
Don’t think Clerc had time to milk it – the ref. was on it so fast.
We all thought yellow card certainly. Red card by letter of the law, but didn’t realise he had given it for a few seconds. Right downer that was, & killed the rest of the first half. Second half thought they could still do it, but the missed kicks told. As you say, gutted for the team and particularly for Sam. They will be back!
Sigh if only they could kick........:0)
Tell Sir Bon Chance for tomorrow-home from my travels so will watch the match……….Hope France show what they can do!!!
by scrumsndswings on Oct 22, 2011 6:40 PM EDT up reply actions
Well, France certainly made a match of it
thank goodness. Would have hated it to have been a walkover. Don’t think anyone begrudges the home win for the Kiwis this time though. Go get ’em next time Wales.
Good game and NZ worthy winners.............
Yes so glad Les Bleus made a game of it although I think Weepu must have caught something from James Hook!!!
Heineken Cup and Six Nations next!!!
by scrumsndswings on Oct 23, 2011 9:56 AM EDT up reply actions
Ha now that would be something but never take anything for granted in this RWC.......
Good to see the young Welsh boys perform well but sorry for the Irish too-last chance saloon for a lot of them.Dont know what to say about England-so many good players and the French were fragile.
Been a good tournament though with more than a few surprises!!!
Tell your ‘froggie’ I know how he feels……..Open a fine Claret……………:0)
