Young Tom wins Portugal Masters
No, not that Young Tom, but Tom Lewis aged 20. Named after Tom Watson with whom he played the first round in the 2011 Open when he had the lowest single-round score for an amateur in Open Championship history and equal lowest in any major. Made his professional debut in Sept. '11 and now wins in only his 3rd tournament. You may remember him from the 2011 Walker Cup? Oh - he's from Welwyn Garden City (Faldo territory)..
Here comes Bridgestone. Move over Rickie & Rory?

I only saw a couple of shots from the final round today – this kid is scary good ! He’s not just some skinny kid who swings the driver fast – he has some muscles to control his ball in tough positions.
Bridgestone ?

He qualifies for Bridgestone Invitational 2012
I think & hope?
Course management was superb as well. Kaymer, Quiros, Bjorn & F. Molinari also in field so not too shabby.
The Bridgestone is a WGC that takes entry based on rankings, not just tournament wins. This certainly doesn’t hurt., but before this win he was ranked 621st. Winning in his 3rd pro start – pretty darn impressive !

His first pro event he had a top 10
The thing I noticed during the Open was how cool he was about it all. In his final round, he had the abilty to focus then smile. Didn’t get too pumped, kept it on an even keel. Impressive, too, he was even par after 20 holes, looking like missing the cut. Looking forward to seeing him in a big event like Wentworth or the WGC’s next year.
That's just one criterion, Court
The commentators specifically mentioned he was now eligible for Bridgestone Invitational – otherwise it would never have occured to me. I checked the criteria before posting and believe it comes under “Tournament Winners of world-wide events since prior year’s event with Field Rating Strength of 115 points or more”. Can’t swear to it as I don’t know what the field strength rating was for Portugal Masters.
Qualification for the Bridgestone
(1) Playing members of the last named Presidents Cup or Ryder Cup teams (whichever was played last). – nope
(2) Players ranked among the top 50 on the Official World Golf Rankings (one week and two weeks prior to event).
Not yet, but he did jump up to #122 in the OWGR from #621 last week.
(3) Tournament winners of worldwide events since the prior year’s tournament with an Official World Golf Ranking
Strength of Field Rating of 115 points or more. Possible – I can’t find that rating – but this wasn’t a particularly strong field outside of Kaymer and Bjorn.
(4) The winner of one selected tournament from each of the PGA Tour of Australasia, Sunshine Tour, Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour. Nope

Yes, I read all those too
+ Quiros & F. Molinari.
Not only did the commentators (good ones) state that he was now eligible for Bridgestone, but the English newspapers today state “Lewis also earned an invitation to the HSBC Champions in Shanghai next month and the Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio next season, both WGC events”. Given that the “nopes” are obvious, I’ll have to go with (3) until I find out otherwise.
Good Plan......:)
The Saints were the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS for a year...hope I don't have to wait another 44 years for #2....WHO DAT!......:)
Good stuff for sure..
I bet we see a lot more of him soon enough.
