North Korea Holding Amateur Open At Pyongyang Golf Complex In April
Pyongyang Golf Complex is notable in golf history as it is the site where Kim "Dear Leader" Il Jong shattered the all-time record for golf by completing 18 holes with an astounding score of 38, and with 11 holes-in-one on his card for the day. Jong, playing his first round ever, apparently had beginner's luck time many magnitudes.
More seriously, the North Koreans will be hosting an amateur tournament in April at Pyongyang, according to Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo:
North Korea will host its first ever amateur golf tournament for foreign visitors. London-based Lupine Travel on Thursday announced that together with China Youth Travel Service of Dandong, it is organizing the North Korean Amateur Open for golfers from around the world in Pyongyang from April 26 to 30.
Lupine Travel, which specializes in tour packages to unique destinations, is currently offering a five-day tour to the North through the website www.northkoreanopen.com.
According to the website for the tournament:
All amateur golfers with a handicap are eligible for entry. [Travel costs cover] entry to the tournament, return train travel from China into North Korea, all meals, four nights 5 star hotel accommodation and a 3 day tour of the country. Flights into China are not included.

uh-huh – just make sure the players don’t come out of there with a deck of cards playing solitaire. if that Queen of hearts comes up – watch out ! :-D

Charles.....Now I know you are on the disabled list and
can’t play right now, but you should remain objective despite your frustration. Your sarcasm was very obvious when you spoke of the great round “Dear Leader” had in shooting 38. Since he hadn’t played before he didn’t know you weren’t supposed to play that well. A very good round indeed. Obviously played by the “pick it up, it’s good” rule…….:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Yep, on the tee, pick it up, it’s goooooooood, boss!
LOL
There is an old phrase that is supposed to be an insane man saying it: “I’m not crazy, the REST of the world is!!!”
Problem is, people like that aren’t supposed to run countries. And what’s worse is China, the guys who want to be a big part of global affairs, keeps this guy as their lapdog just to annoy us.

nice one Charles. Do you think any of the ’world’s’ amateur golfers will be making the journey to Pyongyang.
I heard Michele Wie and Dustin Johnson are getting married over there.
"pain is only weakness leaving the body" jumpn
Then again I never said getting married to each other :o)

What I find amazing and somewhat disturbing
Is that TGC isn’t showing third round play following the Euro tour action. Instead it will be infomercials for the Meticus driver and re-runs of the Haney project. “Worldwide network dedicated to the game” I think not.

The Golf Channel
is mainly a USPGA tour media tool…and based in the USA, that is to be expected I suppose.
True
But I don’t mind. When there is a world tour, court can stay up late like we do when they play in the far east :)
cept for one thing easing.....
Hawaii is part of the USA. I hear Kelly Tilghman is upset that she can’t find a date over there.
"pain is only weakness leaving the body" jumpn
Well of course Hawaii is part of the USA
Don’t know what that has to do with what I said. As for Tilghman, I’m not surprised.
easing you said, mainly a USPGA tour media tool…and based in the USA
hence why they should be showing all of it today instead of meticus infomercials or re-runs of big break etc
"pain is only weakness leaving the body" jumpn
That was in reply to your
justifyable complaint they omitted the European coverage. I admire your world wide golf interest, but I get the feeling the GC caters more for the home based golf…even if it is Big Break etc.
NAAA, I normally don't gossip like this
BUT, it’s rumered that Chip is a bit of a player, and really fickle…jis saying….STUB

Well, I don't like to talk about her behind her back either
but perhaps after Gary, she’s only interested in major Players.
Groan alert – oh – too late ;o)

OK - I'm soooooooo bored!
Reduced to working indoors (no inspiring projects) & playing Fantasy Golf instead of the real thing – got the tee booking tomorrow a.m. however, and weather forecast not too bad!
Court isn’t posting anything controversial for me to pick on.
So… the devil makes work for idle hands ….but I’m only on my first glass of red wine …watch this space.
Wendy......be gentle with Court,
as he is in mourning this morning. His beloved Falcons got shot, stuffed and mounted last night…..a nice trophy bird for the Packers locker room. As I have been told…..“there is always next year”…..:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
