What Will Phil Do Next? Try Chipping on the Green for Eagle
Phil Mickelson was facing an eagle try on the 15th hole at Cog Hill in his first round of the BMW Championship. Making the green in two, Lefty had to contend with an enormous slope installed by "Open Doctor" Rees Jones which would cause him to putt far uphill. After much thought and analysis with caddy Bones Mackay, Mickelson pulled out a wedge to chip to the pin.
Didn't turn out so good.
PGATOUR.com doesn't have the video, so this is what you get.
Mickelson hit ground first and chipped the ball a good 20 feet past the hole. He then went on to two-putt for par.

Bonkers/Not Bonkers, Volume One
Well, I'm viewing this a bit
different….I see Phil processing all the options….something the average duffer doesn’t do….He was trying to avoid having to putt up that large mound, and control the speed and path back to the hole….I think he made the right decision…..got his par and went to the next hole….how many of us would have tried for the one in 10 million putts and walked off with a bogie or worse….jist sayin mind ya….STUB
