Nationwide Tour President Reacts to Pending Namesake Change
With the revelation yesterday that Nationwide would become presenting sponsor of Jack Nicklaus' Memorial tournament for a five year run beginning next season, it also was made clear this would be a shift for the Ohio-based insurance giant. In two years' time, they would cease to be the namesake of the PGA Tour's developmental tour.
The Nationwide Tour, as we know it now, will seek its fourth ever title sponsor.
Bil Calfee, President of the Nationwide Tour, released a statement about the move.
"The work to find a new umbrella sponsor has already begun," he said.
"We are confident the ever-growing and strong reputation our Tour continues to experience will attract a number of potential umbrella sponsors and that one will partner with us, allowing the Tour to attain even greater heights in the future."
The Tour's umbrella is fortunate to fill a sponsor gap, but also have two years to deal with the gap created by Nationwide's changing sponsorship role.

I’d have to file this under the catagory of premature. Nationwide has two full seasons remaining on their contract. The announcement was just made. The announcement included a statement saying that Nationwide will be assisting the tour to find a new sponsor.
Asking for a reaction like this is at least 12 months premature – probably at least 18 months and maybe more. The only thing you’re going to get is an answer that tells you nothing. Why ? Because there is nothing to tell.
