Tiger Woods' $54.5 Million Mortgage on Jupiter Island Mansion (Docs)
Waggle Room has obtained the public filing made on Tiger Woods' behalf to register a $54.5 million mortgage on the Jupiter Island estate already under construction. In documents signed on August 25 by Woods' financial brawn Chris Hubman, the note covers three plots of land for which Woods has previously filed deeds for in Florida court.
Outside of the outlandish sum of money, there are only a few other points of interest. First is the payback period: 5 years. At current mortgage rates of 4.5% percent, that amortizes to a monthly bill of nearly $1.02 million. Also, the three plots at Sand Turtle have a potential plot in between them - perhaps the space between a guest house and the main quarters.
Finally - and perhaps most interesting - is the documents were returned to Elin's representation, presumably for approval of the transaction.

The filing was made two days after Woods and Nordegren made their divorce public in a Panama City court. According to documents filed, though, a divorce settlement was reached and signed on July 3, during the AT&T National.
With deeds already recorded in Woods' name for these plots, it is likely Woods is using this mortgage to free up cash. For what purpose - paying off Elin, sustaining his lifestyle, something else entirely - is unknown, though the obligee is an LLC registered to one of Nordegren's attorneys.

Here we go again – digging into things that can’t possibly have any affect on anybody’s life other than on some salacious, class envy level.
Was any law broken ? Did anybody get cheated out of anything for Tiger to take out this mortgage ? Anybody thrown out of their house so Tiger could move in ?
Nope. This is pure salacious reporting.

Again, it’s public record. I’ll say that til I’m blue in the face.

My honest reply to this is that this falls under the “business of sport” category, which is covered in a whole lot of other places. The secondary response would be that I am reporting on this to let the record speak for itself as opposed to other outlets which will just tell you what they think of the document – expert or not. I’d much rather make the document public (without watermarks or anything) and let you decide.

Ryan.....You keep posting this stuff.
Court just likes to hear himself gripe. As part of my job, I look at hundreds of these documents every week, I have a couple of hundred on my desk right now. They are public records, available to anyone who wants to take the effort to look them up and read them. I think this one is especially interesting because of the amount, more than because of the “who”. 54 freakn million….that monthly payment is more than twice the value of my home. I wonder if he has a HD Big Screen…..
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
thank you for proving my point, em – class envy. what difference does it make how much the guy paid for the land and/or that….“house” ?…it’s his money.
you wouldn’t like it if someone decided to go rumaging through your records and putting them on the internet. this is only done for sensationalism.

If you wanna dig up my mortgage records, go for it. It’s public record and I can’t stop you.

Mortgage records? Nah. I'll wait till your mortgage CDs come out,
or just go to iTunes.
but why should I even CARE about your mortgage records ? or your Mazaratti you got from the WR bonus check based on how many posts we put up ? (JUST kidding !)
The only reason you posted this public record is because it’s Tiger Woods and you don’t have $54 million like he does.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Court....."class envy".....give me a break.
Sensationalism……what is that?? Ryan didn’t sensationalize anything, just provided the facts. If the 54 mill is sensational, that is not Ryan’s fault. Ryan is doing his job. Thankfully he doesn’t try to please just you, or we would have nothing to read. If you don’t like it, don’t comment….pretty simple.
So, what a about the HD Big Screen??
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
yes – splashing someone’s personal life on the internet for no good reason is sensationalism – the only reason it is “interesting” is because most people don’t have $54 million for a house. That is Class Envy.
You’re right, em. I shouldn’t comment. I should just expect people to wallow in the lowest common denominator instead of hoping the best of people.

Thank you for sacrificing
and trying to save all of us who are pond scum……you are my hero….:)

Jeez. You're tough to please lately, Wendy.
Did you burn a post roast or something?
Damm TX....it sure is apparent
you don’t know nothin about cookin….Ya can’t burn a post roast….STUB
You're right re my cooking skills, STUB, or lack thereof. I do know how to boil water,
but my hands get really hot.
Re pot roast, so if you cooked it for a fortnight it wouldn’t get a little too dark around the edges?
Do you mean "pot roast"?
Either way, I never burn anything when I’m cooking – a little singe round the outside now and again, perhaps.
I'm sure you're a terrific cook, Wendy. I was just kidding, as is my wont.
Gotta go now. I’m going on an expedition in Manhattan in search for a British restaurant.
I’m bringing rations.
Post mortem
And STUB, that was a funny comment re my “post” roast.
I didn’t get it till Wendy pointed out my typo.
Gotta type, and read, slower.
A nice steak 'n kidney pie, perhaps?
but with your culinary tastes, you’re probably better off with rations of Court’s peanut butter & jelly sandwich anyway.
Gee – thanks you guys – now I’m hungry for some pot roast and all I have is peanut butter and jelly.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
You know what ? I find my only
interest in this piece to be….What the cost is for all the wasted space on a square foot basis….Than, there’s the bill for heating and cooling that puppy….good for him, he’s going to help out the economy…..STUB
This is one expensive house! Can you imagine the power bill alone? That debunked rumor of an NYC apartment would’ve been a smarter choice!

For what purpose – paying off Elin, sustaining his lifestyle, something else entirely – is unknown.
Becasue interest rates are at historical lows?
LOL I’m still wondering how much input Tiger had on the design. It looks almost block house-ish.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Court......How do you know what it looks like???
Did you go looking for a picture? Is that class envy? Surely none of your business! Why in the world would you wonder how much input Tiger had on the design??? Confusing….in two short sentences you’ve totally contradicted yourself and your condescending comments to the rest of us (pond scum).
Ryan, please post a picture and the floor plans for Tigers house. And, for court, could you find out if Tiger had any input on the design…..Thanks
:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Hmmm – let’s see – comparing a street view of a house to….personal financial records….yeah – those are the same.
there were pictures of the house in magazines and on line.
lol – I was wondering if HE had any input or if it was Elin’s idea. (I’m guessing Tiger didn’t get to put a wagon wheel table in the house)
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
LOL.......not the same is correct....
the point was YOU PEEKED and looked at the house and then asked a follow-up question. I’ll bet when you were in Junior High and got caught with a Playboy magazine, you said you were just “reading” the articles, then criticized any of those “class envious” boys that looked at the pictures……..LOL Gotcha!
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
DAD GUM IT EM...Ya forgot to ask Court
to check with Tiger and see if he was gonna have one of those really , really, big Hi – Def TV’s and if so, how many and in what rooms they gonna be in….Always nice to have one on the ceiling in the master bedroom….jist curious mind ya…..STUB
Stub.....I did ask...twice, but nobody answered......lol
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
lol – High Def on the ceiling – 70’s mirrors updated to 21st century cameras ?
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Careful, careful - we all know now how those naughty photos
will come back to haunt (cost) you – well, not me, obviously, well not first-hand, that is!.
Are you referring to a Court sex tape.......
lets not go there….it’s none of our business….:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
My 2 cents
Ok, so this is being widely reported. Ok, it’s public record. But honestly, I don’t get it. Perhaps someone a lot smarter than me can explain why this is newsworthy? Evidently there must be lots of people, who for some weird reason, are interested in this or it wouldn’t be reported all over the place. The question I have is why? Why would anybody give a rat’s a___ that Tiger mortgaged a piece of property? What’s the relevance to anything in the sports world? What’s the relevance to anybody?

its Tiger Woods.
Just because you don’t get it doesn’t mean it’s not relevant or newsworthy. This is the life Tiger chose and this is the life he chose to screw up……..he’s the one that put all this in the news.
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
OK em66
I get that, but why are details of a mortgage (something that millions of people do all of the time) interesting? That’s my question. I could even understand it if this was something negative, like a bankruptcy, because it would give the haters something to roll around in for a bit. But why is this interesting? Is it the possibility that this is how he chose to fund his payment to Elin? Who cares what asset he uses pay her? We already know he has to pay her some amount of money, so why does this matter? Tiger has 100’s of millions in assets, so who cares that he picked this particular one to leverage? So still don’t get it. To me this is no more interesting than where he chose to eat breakfast this morning. But if you and others find this so interesting, more power to you, and I’m sure you’ll all continue to get a steady diet of it.
Fight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth.

T-head.....I don't pick the articles posted
here, but if I did, this would have been posted. I have seen this on several news sites, so somebody obviously thinks it newsworthy. Something doesn’t have to be “interesting” to be news or newsworthy (my mortgage is not newsworthy), but because its Tiger, that is what gets it reported. As I said earlier, I see these documents all day long, but I’ve never seen one that was 54 million. I’ve seen documents selling cows, land, slaves, houses, oil interests, etc., but I found it interesting solely because of the amount. Would it have bothered you as much if it had been a Bill Gates mortgage??
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
em66
I don’t care that Ryan posted this, and I don’t care that every news agency around is reporting it. I understand why it was reported, quite obviously there is demand for it or it wouldn’t be reported. My question is why are people interested in it and relevance does it have to anybody or anything? To be clear, I don’t care what Bill Gate’s mortgage is, or yours, or Tiger’s, or anybody’s. What we do agree on is when stuff like this is reported, you’re free to say what you think about it and so am I. That’s all I did here and I’m sure Ryan is perfectly fine with that.
Fight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth.
Charles A. Dana
T.......I think I answered your question, but maybe I wasn't
clear…..lol. I don’t know why anyone would be interested in Tigers mortgage, but since it was posted, I looked at it (for the reasons already mentioned) and then joined in the comments. Had Ryan not posted it, I wouldn’t have lost any sleep over it, but I bet one of our posters would have done a fan post on it. I think you are looking for something that is not there……
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Yep em66
saying what you think about a given topic is kind of the point of this whole thing….lol My question isn’t really to you specifically and is probably more philosophical in nature. I’m curious as to why so many people would find interest in such a thing. The answer to that question probably explains why tabloids are able to make money. What I am interested in is can Tiger make to the next stage of the playoffs? Can he get to the tour championship? How long will it take these new swing changes to gel? Now that’s compelling stuff, don’t you think.
Fight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth.

T......Rut Ro.....
I can answer the “next stage of the playoffs” question. No, because I picked him for my fantasy team and that is the big kiss of death…..sorry (not)….:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
I've got him as well
so that makes his chances even lower…lol I would guess most people picked him this week as he showed a few signs of life last week. I’m actually pretty curious as to how Phil will do this week. I don’t have him, so he’ll probably win.
Fight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth.
