BREAKING: Cobra Golf Files Suit Against Camilo Villegas and TaylorMade-adidas
Last week, Titleist-parent Acushnet filed suit in Massachusetts Superior Court seeking a temporary injunction and monetary compensation against TaylorMade-adidas and Camilo Villegas to prevent both parties from discussing their newly-announced partnership for 2011 and beyond.
When the news broke, we wondered here if and when Cobra Golf - now owned by Puma AG - would get in on the litigaction. Today, they did.
Cobra Golf filed suit, also in Massachusetts Supreme Court, for the same temporary injunction that Acushnet seeks.
Requests for comment by Waggle Room to Camilo Villegas, TaylorMade-adidas, or Cobra Golf for comment on either of the suits have not been yet returned.

lol – who didn’t see this coming ? Acushnet is still handling the marketing for Cobra until the official changeover this fall.
I’m guessing someone’s going to get fired at Taylormade over this leak…but don’t you know that the Acushnet brass is having a few laughs at this latest set of law suits. (grow up people – this is dumb)

Yeah, the release from Cobra read like the one from Acushnet – a cut and paste job, basically

Well, don't tell me that this
surprised either of you two guys….Certainly, someone my… get their wrist slapped on this just to make it look good, but if you don’t think it was done on purpose, You’ve missed the whole point…..It was done for the publicity…..These companies thrive on it…..It’s what drives the whole industry….Ralph and Joe are at an event…Pro Dimwitty hits a great shot….Ralph…Holy shit Joe see that…..look in his bag…what irons he playin with….I gotta get me sum a them sticks….Cha Ching….another grand on equipment that won’t help either of these dim bulbs play any better….Isn’t or wasn’t there a service that used to report on who had what clubs in the bag?….also what ball they played? yea, that was a long time ago, but that’s all right…the more things change, the less they change…Fix me another a them Martinis baby…yea, 3 olives ana twist….smack, smack…..STUB
of course it was done for publicity – but the way Acushnet likes to throw around law suits with lots of zero’s just for craps and giggles – they were taking a chance on being taken to court – OR – it was leaked by some idiot in the marketing department who figured if you can get away with leaks from the Grand Jury, this would be even easier to get away with.
