At Least One of the Woods Clan Is a Winner

While Tiger was on his way to posting the worst round of his career at Firestone - a four over 74 that left him T70 out of an 81 player field - his cousin Cheyenne was earning a trophy.  Cheyenne Woods, a niece to the soon-to-be-ousted number one player in the world, won the Hooters Team Championship with Wake Forest partner Michelle Shin.

Over a three day competition with rounds of alternate shot, best ball, and aggregate score, the duo won with a total of -15.

The highlight for the team in the aggregate score final round was Woods' eagle on the 15th hole.  After the round, she talked about her struggles up to that point.

"The whole day I really wasn’t making any putts," Woods said. "Going into No. 15 I had a great putt for eagle and fortunately I made it and that really gave us some momentum going down the stretch."

Sound like anyone you know?

Wow – sometimes I wish I was back in the 60’s and 70’s. Tiger Woods – the winningest active golfer on the planet is a loser because he hasn’t won lately.

His cousin – who needs help to win anything – finally gets a minor team win and she’s the winner of the family ? Congratulations to Cheyenne and Michelle…but really ? Tiger Woods is a loser. Wow.

Made a boo-boo here – Cheyenne is his niece, not cousin.

Tiger has issues, yeah no kidding! He’s also playing a game that is capricious at best. No one dominates, except for a select chosen few. He’s in a slump for reasons known or not, to the rest of the world. He’s too good, mentally and physically not to come back. This is slump/hiatus, number 3 and personally, I think he will rise from those ashes, self imposed or not.
In the meantime, I wonder about those who would rather see him fail, than succeed and those who take obvious pleasure in seeing him (or anyone else for that matter) struggle. I want to see the best of the best play their best. Tiger is the best of our era and that is beyond dispute. He sure as hell never has been, or will be “a loser”.

C&P

Good Golfer no doubt about it. Bad role model for children, especially when he lied to 300 kids at a First Tee presentation in Florida saying, “My Family Always Comes First over Golf and everything Else”. We know now that wasn’t the case. A man is only as good as his word over golf and other things in life. I believe it’s high time that TGC and other golf media outlets start promoting our sport of golf as a whole, rather than a chosen few for the sake of money and bottom line profit.

Life has no garauntees...

or Tiger returning to the top. Tom Watson, at 33 won his 8th and last major because he forgot how to putt. If Tiger can’t rediscover that part of his game that got him out of the mire so often, he will go down that same road.

Yup easing

Much the same way as David Duval

Pro – I agree with all you say., but shouldn’t those ideals also speak something about forgiveness and acknowledgment of others human frailties? No one has screwed up more than Tiger, that’a a given. What he did was reprehensible, but would it not also be a good life lesson for those First Tee kids, to have him held up as a model for how no one is above the morals and ideals we preach to those kids Wouldn’t it also be great for those same kids, to see others lend a hand up to those that fall, instead of a kick down?
As far as the GC is concerned, fortunately, I get it in my part of the world, or I wouldn’t see much golf at all. Bottom line profit, like it not, drives the world in every respect whether we like it or not. The good news, is that I also have a mute button.

Hey Chip...I think, and this is only

my take on it, but when you say “see others lend a hand to those that fail”…well isn’t that the province of the church ? That’s what their in the business of doing….not golf fans…..We want to see good golf, by persons of good character….not some scumbag who has all the talent in the world, and in my estimation peed it down the drain….Is he in a slump….yup…..Who knows…and for a lot of us here,,,,WHO CARES…..sure, there are those like Tigerhead, Fairways and Grins and even Court who have a nook in their houses with burning candles as a shrine to this A**Hole….As golf fans we want to see ALL GOOD GOLFERS COMPETE AND RECEIVE THEIR JUST ACLAIME…As Pro said….not Tiger , Tiger, Tiger until we puke….In case you didn’t notice it, after his wonderful 74, he again refused to talk to the reporters….From him it’s the same old song,,,just a different verse…..STUB

Aside from the cheap shot at my interior decorating skeeelllzz (lol), I have to say that I’m a bit surprised, Stub, that you would say that hoping the best for someone who screwed up his life should only be done by an institution. The church isn’t the government..(take that with a grain of salt – I’m not opening up a discussion of Islamic countries or The Vatican or even The Church of England)…the church is the people – not the guy up front wearing the robes. And people should be willing to help and forgive.

Only if they want that help

and they say please. One gets the feeling Tiger wouldn’t do either.

So much for the ..

So called panel of experts (knuckleheads) @ TGC, groveling about tiger and his break out tournament this week. T-75th currently at 6 over par.

Lets Review shall we:

Randall Mel said: " Tiger Wins, If Tiger is going to break out of his "slump" this is the week it’ll happen."

Charlie Rymer said: “Tiger Wins, Tiger will finally get everything together this week at Firestone. It’s basically his own private playground having never finished worse that T-5.”

Jay Coffin said:, “Tiger Wins, If you’re going to pick the guy, this has to be the week. Seven victories in 10 attempts? Ridiculous. And he’s never finished worse than fourth. If Tiger is going to break out of his "slump" this is the week it’ll happen”

Brian Korressel said," Tiger Wins World No. 1 finally breaks through in ’10 with a clutch first win of the season, letting his putter doing the talking.

Richard Curry said: “Tiger wins, Who else are you going to take at Firestone? It’s as if I didn’t even have to make this pick.”

NICE JOB GUYS !!!

Stub...

Pro was talking about how Tiger had let the kids in the First Tee down. I was suggesting that it could be a used as a lesson in forgiveness and helping those who have fallen, for those kids. Perhaps not just the kids, for that matter. Nothing to do with church, all to do with human decency.

There are

Many, Many, Many, talented players on tour with good backrounds and stories to tell as to how they came up and made it on to the PGA or Euro or LPGA tours. I find it very unfortunate that most golf media outlets , (not Ryans of course) spend waaaaay to much time on Tiger and not any time on the other players at all. TGC calls itself, “Golfs Home” as well as “The Only Station Dedicated to the Game” . We know that not to be true and its quite sadf indeed. The golf fans and kids that watch deserve better. It’s no wonder that kids that are interested in golf don’t know any other players for the most part except Tiger as thats who they continue to hear about ad nauseum. The Golf Channel over the years has spent much to much time promoting Michelle Wie, Tiger and Natalie Gulbis and little time on promoting anyone else. A Sad case indeed.
