Heritage Moving A Week Later for 2011
As we told you last week, the Valero Texas Open is taking the place of the Heritage on the PGA Tour schedule in 2011. Uncertain about where the Heritage would land, a Tour official told us to look away from the Fall Series as a possibility.
The answer was right under the Heritage's nose, so to speak - the next date on the schedule. The Heritage will be a week later next year in a one-time deal.
This is possible because an anomaly in the 2011 schedule that adds an extra week between the Masters and The Players Championship. The Texas Open agreed to move to April from May to fill that gap. The '11 Heritage date did not work for Golf San Antonio - the organizers of the Texas Open - so they got the post-Masters slot.
"This is a one-time change to the PGA TOUR schedule, and our hope and intent is for The Heritage to return to its long-standing position the week after the Masters in 2012," PGA Tour Chief of Operations Rick George said.

Wow – it just gets dumber and dumber. Now they’ll be going from Florida, to Houston, to Augusta, to San Antonio, to Hilton Head, and back almost to Texas (New Orleans) ??
There are going to be a bunch of guys wracking up the sky miles next year.

Agreed completely, Court. Why go to Texas, then back east of Augusta the following week?
That’s silly.

then again, there are those on here who wonder why the tour ever leaves Texas for any reason (lol)

By golly Court,
you keep it up and we’uns will make a Texan outta you yet…..hehehe…STUB
I think the idea for San Antonio is that there’s a festival which is the same week as the new date, so that helps them.

The tournament or the festival?
If it is the festival, I am having a fall party in October. Can I get a Fall Series event on the course at the end of my back yard to help? :-)

Depends – do you still have that $4 1/2 million set aside in the mattress ? :-D

I can get sponsors, yeah, that’s the ticket, sponsors. Want it to be the Courtgolf Open? For a mere 4 million, the naming rights are all yours. That and a free extra plate of wood-smoked BBQ and all the craft beer you care to drink.

Court, can I caddy for ya?
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Nah – I’d have to name it “Wendy and Eas Comin’ to The Colonies” Championship.

And I will carry your ...ahem...
bag Wendy Darlin….It will..also include cocktails and finger sandwiches in the afternoons about 4pm…we will need early tee times…jist saying….Oh, and never mind that wood smoked BBQ from OMP…if it ain’t from Texas, it don’t count for nothing….STUB
Finger sandwiches sound rather Canabalistic
I agree with the logistics end of it being a little criss-crossish, but gee wiz man, San Antonio is only a 3 hr non-stop flight on any commercial airline and less privately. Heck I’d fly back and fourth from LA to Boston every week if I had a chance to make a Million Dollars each time.
It’s only August and I’ve already flown about 32,000 miles so far. And boy are my arms tired.
