Let's Role Play and Decide Who Our Captain's Picks Would Be
Last night, I was a guest on the F/U Podcast. The two Mikes that host the show brought me on to talk PGA Championship and Ryder Cup. (Take a listen to my segment here, and the full show here.) We had a great conversation. They asked me who I would take with my four captain's picks if I were Corey Pavin.
I told them: Ricky Barnes (consistent year), Rickie Fowler (older guys love him), Zach Johnson (can putt his brains out), and Sean O'Hair (has really come on lately).
With a few weeks until Corey Pavin makes his selections, who would you pick right now?

My picks + the double secret 'injury' pick
Tiger Woods – He is the girl with the curl right now; if he is good he is very good, if he is bad he is horrid. I believe given six weeks he will closer to the former than the latter.
Anthony Kim – The only reason he isn’t on the team by points is the thumb injury. Another leap of faith that he is playing much better six weeks fro now than he has currently.
Zach Johnson – A steady hand on a team without many steady hands. Playing the best currently of the Ryder Cup veterans available (Cink, Holmes, Perry).
Ryan Moore – With the US side in an underdog position, it may be time to get the young players some reps for the next generation of Ryder Cup matches. I wanted someone with Walker Cup experience; Moore get chosen over Fowler since Moore has won on tour.
Double secret pick – Justin Leonard – With Kim recovering from surgery and Tiger recovering from stinking, I would have Leonard in my back pocket in case either couldn’t go. Like my Moore pick, it is a feel pick, Cink by the numbers is having a much better year, but I can’t get that putt of my head.
Two......sorry, but under
rule 36: 4…..“No Double Secret Picks are allowed on a golf blog. Should a blogger attempt a Double Secret Pick, said blogger will be assessed a two comment penalty. A second Double Secret Pick will result in immediate suspension”.
I hate to be the one to tell you, but we all have to “protect the field”………hey….I don’t make the rules, I just try to blog by them…..:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
One more "Double Secret Pick" and you'll make it to the Blogger Hall of Fame!!!

Can't we penalise Two right away, Em?
1. He posted a comment under penalty (DQ as klaxon had gone)
2. He has too long a memory regarding a certain 2001 putt
3. I dislike his Double Secret Pick in the first place
Wendy...
I did say Cink is having a better year than Leonard. Plus, he is funnier in the Nike commercials.

Wendy....The committee is meeting as we speak.......
they are all frowning……that might not be good…..:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Fowler – Wardrobe consultant
Kim – Just in case Monty does pick Sergio
Woods – So he can pay his tax bill
Cink – Just for Wendy
Bless you, Chip!
I’d go:
Anthony Kim (I think he could drive some other Euro nuts)
Zach Johnson ( he’s friends with Stewart)
Stewart Cink (just for me)
Nick Watney (great short game)
Feel guilty about leaving out Lucas Glover (especially as he’s playing and doing well at Wyndham, but there we go.
Wendy dear...I just get the giggles
and wiggles, when you pick Stinky Cinky for the team…and Zach because he’s Stinky’s friend,,,I do envy your dedication to someone who gave ya 150 to 1, but hey, that was a year ago…now, he’s, well, you know…..do I really have to say it again ?…STUB
Sigh! The Zach bit was a joke STUB
just trying a follow-up to Chip. I still think these 4 picks are pretty good with the team. Sadly, however, with the way Glover is going , I probably would give him the nod instead of Stewartjust for the team. He’ll never replace Stewart in my heart, though ;o)
How about..............
Jason Gore…..because that moron Lerner said yesterday “he could win at any time”….WHAT??…..he shot a 59 once, but hasn’t made cut in ten years…..
John Daly……because his pants will brighten up those cloudy days…..
Michelle Wie……because she is, well, Michelle Wie……
Tiger….because his presence will really motivate the team…..the European team that is…..plus, just think how many blonds will be in the gallery.
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
With the Euro team still totally up in the air
& the Czech Open/Gleneagles still to go, we’re beginning to look enviously at a pretty
good USA team (nice balance oldies/rookies)+ good selection of picks. I think Monty could be worried about who may force their way onto the Euro team when he would rather they didn’t (e.g. Hanson/Dyson), especially with Harrington/Rose/Casey/Donald all choosing to play in USA where their results won’t count.
