A Post for Any Cynics About the Captain's Picks
I've kind of always been curious about the influence that the tons of Ryder Cup stakeholders have on the respective captains to make their wild card picks. In particular, this year has some serious variables for the American team and Corey Pavin.
The obvious issue is Tiger Woods. Should he be on the team? If Corey doesn't think so, would the PGA of America or NBC or a player whisper in his ear to change his mind?
What about Phil Mickelson's endorsement of Rickie Fowler? Does that matter at all?
What better person to consult about this question than a former Ryder Cup captain himself. So, we asked Paul Azinger.
Zero. Players and capt. mostly RT @waggleroom @paulazinger Im curious how much PGA of America, sponsors, etc try to influence Captain's Picks.
So, whatever Corey Pavin's decisions are, Zinger says no undue influence will try to dissuade him.

OMG tx LMAO
and than got more tissues….shoot, now the box is empty….STUB
I'd buy that
especially in Zinger and Pavin’s case. They don’t seem like guys that would easily be persuaded by those entities.
I have to say though I’m not feeling all that confident in the US’s chances with the team being put forth. but who knows…
Does anybody really think that Zinger would admit it if the opposite was true ?
I don’t.
