Sand from Dustin Johnson's Bunker Now Available on eBay
It didn't take too long for the wheels of capitalism - many of which probably trudged through hundreds of supposed bunkers at Whistling Straits this weekend - to work some money out of Bunkergate. Someone is selling sand from the bunker that Dustin Johnson grounded his club in to incur the two-stroke penalty that cost him a spot in the PGA Championship playoff.
The starting bid is a steal at $5, assuming you're willing to believe that it is authentic sand from Dustin's Bunker.
The description sounds convincing:
I was standing maybe 15 yards from the PGA star when he mistakenly grounded his club in a trampled bunker just right of the 18th fairway at beautiful Whistling Straits during Sunday's PGA championship. After the tournament ended, we scooped up a small amount of sand and some of the fescue grass in the bunker, and you can own it as a memento from this riveting, mesmerizing tournament.
And there's more! The guy is selling this sand on behalf of his sister, who attended the tournament. She will throw in a ticket and the pairings sheet from Sunday.
[Thanks to Adam Fonseca/Chicago Duffer for the tip.]

some memento
I like the “we scooped up some sand and grass for a memento”…but now we’re going to sell it, along with the ticket because it meant so much to us…part.
RB – I’m thinking that a true member of the media would buy this item and have the DNA checked for authenticity. :-)
