Tiger Woods' PGA Championship Thursday: 3 Breakfasts and 71
Tiger Woods was scheduled to go off at 9:20am CT this morning. Due to a three hour and ten minute fog delay - likely to be repeated tomorrow - Woods had to wait until after high noon to start his PGA Championship. While waiting for the fog to life, Woods said he had three breakfasts. Once he got to play golf, he shot 71.
Woods came out blazing off of the tenth tee, making three birdies in four holes to start his round. The lone blemish on his first nine was a bogey at the 518 yard par 4 15th hole.
He then came to his 11th hole - the par 5 second - and landed his tee shot in a fairway bunker on the left hand side. His escape caused his iron to make contact with the short bunker lip, hurting his wrist temporarily. The third shot, perhaps influenced by the stinging wrist, led to a perplexed reaction from Woods.
Woods went on to make bogey there, and again at the lengthy 7th hole par 3. But, Woods finished his round under par with a strong birdie at the 9th - one of the more difficult holes on the course. In the end, 71 today was his first round under par since the opening round at St. Andrews last month. That course played much easier than Whistling Straits did today.
The self-assessment of the round was Woods excelled despite not his best game.
"I played too good not to shoot under par, and it would have been very disappointing and frustrating to end up at even par as well as I played today," Woods said.
"To shoot under par just feels like less than I should have shot for the way I played today and that's a good feeling."

Anybody else tired of Nantz already ? He is the last person on the broadcast….well…maybe the second to last after Ernie Johnson…who should be doing analysis. “That looked like a very defensive shot.” Yeah – he knows what he’s talking about. I think I’ll use that line on Saturday when I miss a green by 15-20 feet.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
I see your point, but...
…there are worse than Nantz.

You’re missing the point. I know Berman is not working the PGA, but Nantz on the PGA Championship > Berman doing the US Open coverage in the past.

OMP......Don't mind Court......
He’s always so busy reading between the lines that he usually misses whats said in the lines…..:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Hmmm – let’s review – the topic was a shot at THE PGA – and the call…by Jim Nantz. Also on the broadcast is Ernie Johnson – but not Chris Berman.
I’m missing it ? wow
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
apparently not – if Berman was working the PGA, the comment would make sense
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Come on Court.......stop the silliness.....
the comment has nothing to do with Berman working the PGA, simply a comment that “there are worse than Nantz”…….not a difficult concept to grasp. Your analogy would be akin to saying I am only worse than Phil (in golf) if I am playing in the same tournament with him…….sorry, you lose this one, again……:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
No doubt.....because I can make a freakin 3 foot putt!!!!!!!
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Phil needs to junk his putting
stroke and try something totally different tomorrow….new stance, new posture, new putter…..that might get him out of his funk………
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Yeah, you're right, but he's an aggressive putter...
always hitting it hard enough to go 3+ feet past the hole when he misses, which is ok, if you can make the comebacker, but he misses way too many of those….needs to be a little less aggressive until he gets his confidence back on the short ones.
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Who is coaching Mickelnuts on his putting these days ? The guy doesn’t stick with anything for long.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
He's gonna stick with veggies for a while.
Woody Allen once said: If you can’t make both ends meet, make one end vegetable.
Hey, blame Woody.
Heck, I was tired of nance before he
opened his mouth….He always sounds as if he’s just about to cry, or else is in a funeral procession and doesn’t know whose it is…..STUB
""Live From"" Whistling Straits The story of the week is the ^#&^#% FOG
I’ve been up since 5:30 am and not much has changed with the fog. Maybe its less by about 20 percent or so. The word at the clubhouse is that they are hoping for a 9:15 AM or so CST start. We shall see. Suppose to be close to 90 degrees this afternoon with little to no wind and about 75% humidity. Yikes !!! Saturdays forcast is calling for slightly cooler temperatures with a 50% chance of Thunderstorms and rain in the afternoon.
Yesterdays play wasn’t bad considering the late start. The course conditions are very soft and will probably stay that way with all the humidity. Greens are running about 11 on the stimp. Last night I ran into Day, Els, Wi, Goosen, Harrington and Toms. I spoke to Daly at the restaurant last night and no he isn’t drinking. His girlfriend is awesome and well liked by many on the tour. She could very well be the stabilization John needs.I for one hope so.
The natives are restless and will probably be eating 7 breakfast today.
I’ve already had two LOL

Now here is something very weird, but in The Singapore Straights times during the week, there was a story that she and The Fallen One were a BIG number and going to marry when the divorce came through. You need to understand that Singapore being what it is, the national rag is hardly tabloid press. I hadn’t seen or heard it anywhere other than there, so I took it with the proverbial. Maybe not?

OMP
I heard that mentioned in the backround at the bar last night by a reporter sniffing around asking questions. So basically I got nuthin.
"pain is only weakness leaving the body"
Heres a good one... 9:19 AM cst
I’m sitting here at a table in one of the Clubhouse lobbies with one of my business partners. We both are working on our laptops killing time, when suddenly a somewhat scruffy looking mid 20ish guy walks up to us and asks if we had any updates on the weather or fog lifting. We said we are as curious about it as he was.
My partner then asks, who are you ? And the guy responds. "Brodie Flanders Sir, I caddy for Anthony Kim. lol
hahaha, Thats the part I luv about my job, you never know who your gonna run in to.
"pain is only weakness leaving the body"
THIS JUST IN ::
Play is set to start at 9:45 am CST cool beans.
Enjoy the show.
"pain is only weakness leaving the body"
what a great job
…you’re talking to Kim’s caddy, meanwhile Golf Channel is talking to Brandall Chamblee about Tiger and John Hawkins about his favorite Led Zeppelin song.
Why, oh dear God WHY can’t TNT come on earlier?

lol – I’m with you…luckily, I could reach my remote and switched to something more interesting – Hogan’s Heroes. (SCHULTZ !!!!!!!!)
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
you missed Feinstein talking about Krzyzewski
John’s blood certainly runs Duke blue, and he can even get a reference into their hoops when he is talking about golf.
I wonder why he never mentions Duke football?

Good Thing the Premiership Kicks Off Early Then Golf...
Even if the fog and rain come rolling in at Whistling Straits it will be a busy day on the pitches…
Gotta love that Peter Kostis
Round 1 isn’t complete and he’s counting up guys within 10 shots of the lead. Brilliant
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
And are we gonna be subjected to hearing him repeat
“Konica Minolta Bizhub Swing camera” on the Goof Channel forever?
The sponsors apparently insist on it, but I’d settle for the KMBSC.
Repetitive lips sink sponsorships.
(Not necessarily true but it sounded clever.)
So predictable, STUB. And all of yours are hilarious, no doubt,
at least the 2 percent that are understandable.
Or perhaps mine simply went over your head again.
That doesn’t take much loft.
See TX...your improving
your now up to 2%….keep tryin, soon you’ll be up to 5 (maybe)…..STUB
Brilliant.......huh!!!!
Stating that almost the entire field is within 10 strokes of the lead was meant to show how tight the leaderboard is…….good information. I’m getting real tired of having to explain everything to you……:)
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
i think tiger woods will not win the pga and that i think makes
9 or 10 majors in a row without a major. when will it end?
I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez. Womens MMA, the next big thing in sports. 3 weeks till the first game of college football. UTAH vs Pitt. September 2nd 2010.

WILL it end?
(I think he wins one next year, but the talking ’tards are starting to mutter the above.)
