Even Oakmont Can Give Up an Ace Now and Then
Sun Gyoung Park, an amateur from Korea who lives in Vail, AZ., made a hole-in-one in today's morning wave in the second round of the US Women’s Open. She did it at the 141-yard, par-3 sixth hole. Park used an 8 iron to make the ace. It was the 21st uno in U.S. Women’s Open history and the first since 2008.
Park did not finish her second round, getting through 16 holes.
Playing in order of the course, Park's ace was the first number of her scorecard that was not a five. For six of the first seven holes, Park recorded five. She also birdied the ninth hole to go out in 38.
