At Least One Ryan Is Going to St. Andrews
Yesterday's final round of the AT&T National was an awfully impressive one for Ryan Moore. The Scratch Golf co-owner posted 65 in the last day of the tournament, which left him approximately an hour to wait to see if he would get into the British Open.
How? Well, the R&A has concocted a series of bizarre ways to get American/PGA Tour players into the Open. In Moore's case, the R&A declared that the highest finishing player in the top five that had not already qualified for the Open would get into the field. With Moore's eight one-putts on the back nine, his solo second earned him that spot.
Two other spots were doled out on Sunday as well as part of a fabricated money list that tracked PGA Tour earnings from the Players to the AT&T National. Justin Rose, having won twice in the last four weeks, won that money list. By virtue of Rose' win, Bubba Watson finished second on that list.
Next week, the same contest that Moore won will be held at the John Deere Classic.
Unfortunately, I won't be at the Open this year. (Fingers crossed for next year, though I'll probably do the Pres Cup in Australia.)

“concocted bizarre ways to get AMERICAN Tour players into the Open” ?? Now that can’t be right – Eas keeps telling me how inferior US players are to Europeans. Why dilute the field ? ;-)
Not so sure how “bizarre” this is, especially considering all the whining and screaming that went on when Justin Rose wasn’t given a spot into the US Open.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Now Now...play nice...EASE
is always just making a point as do I, that a REAL INTERNATIONL TOUR is going to come whether or not ANYONE agrees….If you think otherwise, fine….but consider this…..OL TIMMY did not just happen to vacation in Asia last year…He never does anything without a reason…..MONEY AND POWER….He was there to see how much of each he could get….And there is more fuel to the fire of having WORLD CLASS events all over the world….Not just the USA or UK….With the stupid idea of putting golf in the Olympics, this will push it along….Watch out ya don’t get run over……STUB
Court, you surprise me
for one who wants accurate reporting, I never said US players were inferior…only some of their narrow minded fans :)
