Diamond Dallas Page Is Apparently A Golf Fitness Guru

As many of you that follow me on Twitter know, I was a big fan of professional wrestling in my formative years.  To this day, I still catch a few minutes of wrasslin' when I have nothing better to do.  I almost always read new posts in Deadspin's Dead Wrestler of the Week series.

So when Court told me that Diamond Dallas Page was going to be on Brian Katrek's PGA Tour Network show to talk golf fitness, I was absolutely stoked - and shocked.

The last time I remembered seeing DDP was when the whole WWE-WCW-ECW storyline was happening.  That was in high school sometime.  At some point, he and his wife Kimberly took their show home.  Since then, seems like Mr. Self High Five has made quite a career for himself.  He does speaking engagements, apparently runs a rather entertaining web show about wrestling, and is the inventor of YRG - some kind of fitness system that makes me want to scoff at P90X.

As he describes it, Page's system is "kick-butt combination of old-school calisthenics, basic yoga principles, core strength-training, Pilates, mixed-martial arts and my 'secret sauce,' Dynamic Resistance, which teaches you how to engage your muscles in every aspect of the workout by resisting or pressing against each move."

Any excuse for a montage of Diamond Cutters (not RKOs) is good enough for me.  And be sure to catch the 3 seconds devoted to the disastrous experiment of letting Karl Malone wrestle.

He was on a radio show in San Francisco a couple months back talking about his fitness system. DDP is like our generations Jack LaLanne.

Programming update...

…DDP will be live in studio on 790 the Zone and streaming on 790theZone.com this Sunday from 9-10 am eastern – for the whole hour…

Then he will be on “Teed Off” on XM/Sirius/PGA Tour Network (PGATour.com) sometime between 9 and 11 am eastern.

So if you’re anywhere around RB during those times – keep away from the ropes or you might get one of those Diamond Cutters !

Now I have to go find the song from the video…I’m guessing that’s not Lady Gaga. :-D
