Wie Goes Cross-Handed as Her Evian Masters Gets Weirder
It's been a rough week for Michelle Wie. On Wednesday, she pulled out of the Evian Masters pro-am in France citing heat exhaustion. It was the second time in her short pro career that she was sidelined with said injury.
Thursday's opening round was a fairly strong 68 that left her a couple off of the day one lead. It seemed like the extra rest might have paid off. The second round, though, was where her chances unfolded at the tenth. She made a quintuple bogey 9 on the par 4 there, which sent her round into a tailspin. Fifteen other pars, a birdie, and a bogey left her at +2 - forty places worse than the day prior.
In Saturday's third round, Wie - clearly frustrated this season by her putting - continued her cross-handed experiment that began on Friday. On the front nine, it appeared to be working as she shot a first nine of 33. Coming home, though, the magic disappeared. Wie went in with 37 shots, shooting 70 and ending the day a full ten shots behind Morgan Pressel.
Wie will need to do more than a gimmick move in order to straighten out the flat stick. Just ask Tiger Woods about what switching putters does, or KJ Choi about going sidesaddle.
The closest competitors to Pressel are Jiyai Shin, whose strong finish at Oakmont may well have propelled her play this week, and Jeong Jang on -9. Brittany Lincicome, who shot 65 today, as well as Lexi Thompson are the American lead stalkers at -8.

Ryan...she was cross handed on
Friday as well…..Why she left Stockton and went with the egomanic Peltz I can’t understand….At the end of last year, her putting was coming around, which was taking a lot of pressure off the rest of her game….She didn’t have to try and force the second shots like she’s doing now…..I think she also needs a new caddy….Someone with the guts to stand up to her and stop all the brain drain….Send her mother home too….STUB
If only something would cross her mind.
Just kidding. I think she’ll rack up plenty of wins as she matures.

Wie Goes Cross-Eyed as Her Evian Masters Gets Even Weirder
Guess you didn’t hear the interview when asked about the new grip. “It’s, like, y’know, what all the COOL kids use. Y’know ?”
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
"Girls just wanna have fun - that's all they want ....."
Talent she has aplenty – what couldn’t she achieve with utter determination?
Or some utter resource.
The way Wie’s playing now, I doubt she could even get a hole-in-one on a temp green.
give her a break, Wendy – she’s a doctor’s kid, not a dairy farmer’s ki…..oh wait…utter..not udder….forget I said anything
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Groan......that was awful.......
and it may be difficult to forget……ugh.
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Oh – that 9 on the 10th hole on Friday was an aberration on the round – not something that sent her into a tailspin. On the day, she had one birdie and one bogey. It was just the one bad hole.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Happens to all of us.......some of us even miss gimmes......:)

In Arnie's Army...
Arnold Palmer has said more than once if he could go back and do it all over, he’d putt cross-handed—whatever works!
