Beer for Birdies? On the Nationwide Tour, Oh Yes
At this week's Nationwide Tour event in Columbus, Ohio, the tournament organizers are giving the spectators a good reason to cheer for birdies. For every birdie made at the downhill par three 13th, the fans get 15 minutes of $1 beers.
Since the crowd is kind of sparse on Thursday, there are also no lines.
$1 beer night can be dangerous in any sport, though. Trust me. Just ask Nomar Garciaparra's brother what a man fueled on cheap beer can do.

Beer for Eagles
They do the same thing at the Nationwide stop next week in my home town of Omaha for the Cox Classic for any eagles that happen on the drivable par 4 9th…always makes watching the eagle putts that much more exciting.
How often is there an eagle?

Not quite as often as a birdie on a par 3, but they do have the cheap beer for 45 min instead of just 15..they might count eagles that happen on the other driveable par 4 as well, but I can’t remember.

Funny old-time ad. The guy in the background leaves the pin in for what
looks like a three-footer, and only one guy at the table possesses the skill set to pour a beer out of a bottle.
lol good observation
Also, there seems to be some confusion about the weather. Three guys in sweaters and two in short sleeve shirts. Also noticed the leather wrap grip on the club leaning against the table.

OB stakes in the fringe of the green????
It must be a Sunday…..Isn’t that Tiger on the green…..with his red shirt????
The Saints ARE the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS....WHO DAT!
Is that what they are? OB posts? If so, too funny.
And PG’s clothing point too. Apparel of laughs.
I forget what year the USGA changed it, but it used to be perfectly legal to leave the pin in while you putted.

Beer and Golf...
Lets see…in Winter I take along my flask of single malt. My friends bring theirs, slo gin, brandy, rum. But the only time I had beer on a course was in Mexico. I was on holiday at the Moon Palace and a Scot and I decided to do all 27 holes. We went at 2 pm (all the yanks went in the morning, but that was 160 dollars…we got the 2-00 pm time for 80 dollars ) What i didn’t realise is that every 3 holes, a member of the hotel staff came by asking us if we wanted a drink. ( We were all inclusive of course ) It was hot, so we both had a beer. Trouble was, he came by on the 6th too. amd the 9th, 12th and so on. Jockie and I had 8 cans of beer each on those 27 holes we played, we were in a buggy and that took 4 hours. I didn’t play too badly either, lol. Still, I’ll stick to the single malt.
easing ?
Horse Drawn Buggy ? LOL j/k I know you all call golf carts buggies over there in the UK

Oh man – beers for the fans !?? I thought RB meant for the players ! It would explain why he hasn’t been around much lately. He’d be at the range preparing to break all PGA Tour scoring records ! :-)

If you look real close,
you can see there was only 3 bottles for 4 players…..This was just a photo as an ad for Miller High Life beer…. lived in Milwaukee, where the Miller brewery was….Freddie Miller was the driving force behind this brew….At one time Milwaukee Had Schlitz Brewery, Gettleman, Pabst, Blatz and a couple of others….And you want eye candy,,,You should have seen the Champagne Lady for Miller High Life….She used to sit on a Moon swing….Wow,,, that was a loooong time ago….STUB
The guy with the golf glove

The hole was downhill before this cheap beer promo.
Tough to imagine just how downhill it wiil get now.
Great move to draw a crowd, maybe not golf fans.
I’ve seen promotions like this in minor league hockey… $1 beers when home team scores. It is one way to generate some EXCITEMENT.
Make that putt! Make that putt!
