The Open Open Thread - Saturday's Third Round
The leaders are yet to tee off, but most of the field is away in round three.
- Can Oosthuizen find the game that got him here?
- Could Calc or Tom Lehman find a way to capture the lead?
- Will Tiger make a move? What about what Phil is doing?
Let's do this!

I'm just anxious for Court to log on so I can find out
how the announcers are doing. (J/K, Court)
they suck -
did you see that putt from Tiger at the third hole ? the “cone of makeability” wanted him to go 40 feet right off of a hill and down to the hole. Tiger went straight at it and almost made the putt. pretty cool.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Maybe the cone was correct with better odds of making it.
We may never know. Great Eagle chip-in for Sergio today. Shot of the Day so far.

Not keen on Nantz Wendy
But Torrance is awful…he gets too excited, saw him say perfect shot, but then rolled into the rough before he corrected himself.
Somewhat surprised Torrance rolled into the rough just for making
a premature comment.
That was supposed to be damning Nantz with faint praise, Easing
Never forgotten that (alleged) comment from Tony Jacklin when Sam was totally enamoured with his new lady, Suzanne, during a Ryder Cup. “I’m resting you Sam, you’re playing today”.
I like Torrance. He has such infectious joy in the game. I’ll take an enthusiastic error on a course like this where a shot looks good, but turns out differently.
We’re stuck with guys with such low golf IQ’s – and they call the game to that same low level. They try to sound intellectual, but they are basically putting a lot of syllables to the obvious.

Ahhh!!!
I didn’t know if Nantz was there or not, but I passed a guy who looked an awful lot like him walking parallel to the 6th on Thursday! If I could have been certain it was him….I don’t want even want to entertain such malicious thoughts.

So little talk about Paul Casey and he's 6 under.
I pick him to win, at this point. (Before tee time)
I kinda like Casey’s chances. He’s been playing well lately.

Phil collected himself so far today
Very steady and tied with Stenson for low round of the day at this point.

oops – until 16. what a time to turn into “evil-phil”.
How about Hanson holing out like that ?
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
OUCH Phil, bad boy
Calc. struggling, Stenson on the move. Tiger going backwards Rory 69. Interesting Day.

Funny comment by Alliss when they showed that toddler with the
excellent but cross-handed swing: “Sign him up right now! You could probably get him cheap!”
What I wouldn't give for the coverage...
…to be all Alliss and Laidlaw.

A terrible shame...
…what’s happening with Calc.
Back in the states now, unfortunately – watching from my couch in Alabama.
To any Wagglers from Ireland or the UK; anyone have a room to let?

Very sad to see what’s happening with Calc. But at least it’s not rubbing off on Oosti.

Indeed.
Oosthuizen is handling all of this very well thus far.

Kudos to Calc
for recovering from bad start, bad call re “finding” his ball in the gorse, and not losing his cool. Don’t think I would have been quite so sanguine.
