Stricker Challenging PGA Tour Scoring Record

Though it was Paul Goydos that carded a historic 59 in the first round of the John Deere Classic, it is Steve Stricker - who shot a first round 60 - that has kept up the blistering pace best at Deere Run.  Stricker currently sits at -25 through 54 holes for a three round total of 188.

The PGA Tour record low total for 72 holes is 254, shot by Tommy Armour III in the '03 Texas Open.  If Stricker could shoot 66 tomorrow, which is no small feat, he would tie the record.  65 breaks it.  He has now shot two rounds better than that 65 he would need tomorrow.

Stricker, too, is the defending champion in this event.  His performance in defense of his title is the strongest seen on the PGA Tour this season.  After winning this event last year, he finished T52 in the Open Championship.

Great numbers on an easy course

the fact that -4 missed the cut says it all.

We’ll all have to chip in and get you a spot in the Deere next year, Eas.

Go Strick!

Amazing play so far, keep it up. I don’t care if the course is easy, -25 through 54 holes is incredible. You still have to make the putts after all.

Here’s to breaking the record! I’m pulling for ya, Strick.

The numbers don't lie mate...

it’s all relative..you and I might not break 90 on there, but pros need to be tested. One thing I didn’t look at…were all the greens flat easy putts ?

So where was the 62 on Sunday ? The course was tightened up on Sunday and it fit Goydos better than Stricker.

We had to read and listen to people whining and complaining that the US Open tracks are too difficult – now we have to read and listen to whining about a course being too easy ? So, would you prefer that courses be set up where the winner is the first one to 12 under every week ?

Court, we are giving our opinons here about golf

but don’t ever say I am whining. On Stricker’s 4th round, he himself said he was playing not to make mistakes and tightened up a bit. Now, stop having a paddy about defending American golf and have a drink . Cheers.
