Tiger Could Be Headed for Bankruptcy Court After Divorce Court

If two websites report it (even ones with vague information, at best), then it must be true.  Tiger Woods is prepared to end his marriage to Elin Nordegren in exchange for some $750 million in assets.  The Chicago Sun-Times and Radar Online - part of the National Enquirer - have been pegging the divorce at that figure for weeks.

There are other rumored caveats to the agreement, like Tiger giving Elin his Jupiter Island estate (the one with the hyperbaric chamber), Tiger not flaunting any lady friends in front of her or the kids unless she becomes Mrs. Woods, Jr., and Elin not writing or producing some kind of tell-all.  Still, it is the figure that is staggering.

(Brief aside: Parts of what Radar Online is saying are patently ridiculous, like that Elin was outraged when Woods missed his daughter Sam's birthday to play the second round of the US Open.  Elin had to know.  She was delivering the baby in '07 as Woods was losing to Angel Cabrera at Oakmont. When Woods committed to the Open in the week following the Masters, we reported that Woods would miss the day he vowed to never miss again.  Other outlets, though, reported it after the Open as though it were some kind of revelation.)

Regardless of that clearly fabricated element of the story, the $750 million figure is hard to ignore on its own.  It becomes downright astounding after reading Forbes' report on Woods' assets and course design business.  They estimate his current net worth at $600 million - nearly half of the one billion dollars that was his projected cumulative earnings last September after winning the FedExCup for the second time

In simple math terms, if Elin gets $750 million today and Forbes' estimate is remotely accurate, then Tiger Woods' net worth becomes negative one hundred and fifty million dollars.

Star-divide

If the math works out, that means Woods would literally lose everything.  He would desperately need new sponsors, more course design work (much less finish the three he already has languishing globally), alongside playing & winning more golf tournaments.

Of course, the divorce settlement could be a payment plan.  It could be over five or ten years.  Woods could have time to recoup enough money to be more than happy for the rest of his life.  True, too, that the pie in the sky figure could be imaginary.  The number could be closer to the $350 million that was created from thin air in the weeks after the harem of women came forward for their fifteen minutes.

With details scant for now (and they will likely remain that way until any settlement is reached), it is a bewildering thought to consider that the world's first billion dollar athlete could be taken down for everything.

She's a nanny. A NANNY.

She could have been making $18/hour for the past 4 years. This $750 million is a complete joke.

Furthermore, I thought Tiger and Elin has a pre-nup?

For years prior to being a Nanny. Her family is also well quite well off.

I believe there was one as well

I imagine it a non-disclosure agreement that Team Tiger wants desperately Team Elin is using for leverage.

What everyone is missing, is that El Tigar

did himself in….pre nup or no pre nup….It’s usually in there, that whoring around negates the paper….Naw, won’t be going bankrupt….Nike still has their lips on his butt, and won’t let that happen….Just think of all the POSITIVELY over priced shoes they can sell off this one….What about the island she supposedly purchased? haven’t heard any more on that…and than there is visitation rights….Tigar gets them on the weeks he doesn’t play…seems reasonable enough….who takes care of the kids when he does have them? is it positive that it will be one of his skanks? this seems to be a joke in progress, so stay tuned…..STUB

Since this is a humor post,

Let me just say that Tiger is my Hero. He is a nice man. He has real white teeth and a big smile. He is a nice man. Elin is pretty. He is a nice man. I like how he twirls his club when he hits a “Tiger Shot”. He is a nice man. Elin is very pretty. I think she is mad at Tiger. He is a nice man. He is rich. Oh, not anymore……He likes blonds. They are expensive. Elin is rich. He is bankrupt. Positive.

Ok – we need to take some wagers that these “journalists” are at least $500 million over in their guesses.

More dispicable articles printed with the sole purpose of creating controversy. This is what passes for legitimate journalism these days. No sense waiting for facts when we can sell more papers by printing this crap.

How about this, RB – write something to explain to these geniuses that you don’t go to bankruptcy court for handing the keys to the house to the ex plus whatever goodies she gets.

I seem to recall...

That shortly after the Thanksgiving Fire Hydrant Turkey incident, the National Enquirer report was shunned off as “side show reporting” and the man himself said on National TV that all the rumors were “False” So it’s best to wait and see what happens.

but $750 million ?

Only an idiot who actually believes that Woods is worth a billion would write something like that. Those geniuses write articles based on gross contracts and tournament winnings – completely forgetting how much he pays his people….not to mention the ever growing sums he is sending to Uncle Obama…errrr….Sam.

I don't know if the $750M figure is correct...

but “expenses” do add up quick. Let’s ignore the $350M that was supposed to be in the prenup. How much alimony do you think she could ask for? Tiger was routinely estimated at $100M a year in endorsements and winnings… whether it’s that much now or not, let’s use the figure. She could surely ask for half, especially given the circumstances and Team Tiger’s desire to keep things quiet. That’s $100M every two years… in just 20 years she would make $1B and Tiger would only be in his early-to-mid 50s. Then add in some “upfront” money and some property… !

Yeah, I can see how this could end up being a VERY expensive settlement.

ridiculous hunh,

and yet, that’s what a lot of our society has chosen. I’m saying that we blindly follow those less prepared for their position. simply because we are aligned with them because of a party, or a religion, or something less obvious. I could see Sarah Palin was a useless pawn from as far as it is to Alaska from Russia. I could see that McCain was well past the age where he should be President. Not necessarily age in years, but that man’s had a rough go of it. Yet, as ridiculous as it was they were close to the White House. I can see the clergy in all religions leading the lambs astray for profit, and still we follow. I see all this, and yet ridiculously incredible, these people are progressing into power. I hear Limbaugh with his nonsense, and i see people following word for word. I heard drill baby drill, and i see spill baby spill. I’m saying that the ridiculous is actually becoming reality. I’m saying that the Enquirer is being taken seriously by some folks. I’m saying that George frickin dubya Bush was OUR President. I’m saying that report anything without credible sources, or whatever, and some take it as gospel. It’s all so ridiculous to me, and yet these things are thriving. It’s all Very Frightening, Not just a bit…………

"The game is swell when it's played well."

I have no idea what McCain’s age has to do with being president – what you should be worried about are his policies and thoughts on the direction of the country. Choosing to focus on age is a tactic that got us Chairman Mao-bama in office – a man who has deliberatly ignored the Constitution every chance he has gotten and is well on his way to finishing the job FDR started. He was elected in large part by ignorant people who voted for him on his skin color – while trying to connect him to MLK, but Obama is nothing like MLK other than skin color. Limbaugh is a talk show host. I don’t know about things where you live, but we don’t have “talk show host” on our ballots. I stopped listening to Limbaugh a long time ago because his exaggerations detracted from his actual points. You point at “drill baby drill” – then point at a single well out of 30,000 in the gulf – then reach for ridiculous conclusions. By the way – you enjoyed pointing fingers at Bush during Katrina – where is your indignance towards Obama on this ? One stance is just as ridiulous as the other. Dubya wasn’t a great president overall – but he stood tall after 9/11 and helped keep this country focused. And the man actually worked in the private sector for a number of years, something you can’t say about Clinton or Obama. And Sarah Palin has more elected experience than Obama – but I wouldn’t particularly want her in the Oval Office. She has done an excellent job doing her job in Alaska – but that doesn’t necessarily translate to D.C…as Slick Willie and Jimmy-bob Carter proved.

See

It’s all so ridiculous. McCain has more miles than years on him. And it would’ve been scary indeed for Sarah Palin to be President. Now that’s a ridiculous notion to me. It may not be to you, but to me it’s plain insane. As for Dubya working in the private sector, let me open a door so my laughter doesn’t go unnoticed. Again, ridiculous. Dubya wasn’t a great President overall……………I’ll let that stand on it’s own, since this is a ridiculous post and what not. More elected experience…………also goes to my point. I could see her being president and just up and quitting. Like she did in Alaska. But, we both think our party affiliations have ridiculous points. But nothing tops the “Dubya wasn’t a great President overall” line. I mean really? Ya think? Classic………just absolutely………..Classic. lmfao!! Oh my.

"The game is swell when it's played well."

by Fairways and Grins on Jun 26, 2010 1:08 PM EDT reply actions

Read the whole thing – I said that Dubya was a strong leader during a time when this country came under attack on 9/11. Notice that there were dozens duing Clinton – but only one under Bush…and that one was planned during Clinton’s years. Bushed proved himself weak when he wouldn’t stand up to the media and explain the facts of the war in Iraq. He let Democrats and media alike to push him around. Not good.

Obama doesn’t have that problem since most of the mainstream media is on his side.

We’re arguing the same side of the same coin. We had ZERO good options in the last election. The next to last thing I wanted to do was to vote for McCain. I had had enogh of him when I lived in Phoenix. But Obama forced me to vote for McCain. Unfortunately, the worst of two evils won and now we have a guy who has proven again and again and again that he will disregard the Constitution any time he wants, and will lie to people’s faces and just do whatever he wants.

Our expectations of leadership have gone in the tank. whether it be politics, clergymen, school teachers, police officers, the media or just about anything. Noone’s held accountable, and it’s a free-for-all. $750 million divorce settlement for five years of marriage, with a prenup. Is that responsible journalism? Forced to Vote for McCain/Palin……..man i feel sorry for America. I believe in what the President stands for, and i’m happy i wasn’t forced to vote for McCain/Palin, or Dubya. It’s all so ridiculous.

Court.....as to your question about what is a community organizer.......

I googled it and here is a brief description……Someone who is ignorant, and lazy, usually a failure at other jobs, a whiner and crybaby, and in most cases someone with goofy looking ears. In most cases they are born of Chicago politics, so their integrity and credibility are always suspect….beware of any important responsibilities you may give them….they will let you down.

It also said some bad things, but I didn’t put them in…..you know, didn’t want to be negative.
