Dustin Garza Gets 86'd in PGA Tour Debut

PrintWichita State golf standout Dustin Garza made his professional debut on the PGA Tour yesterday in the opening round of the Travelers Championship. As he was teeing off the start of his round at 1:45, Nike Golf sent out a press release announcing that Garza had signed a full equipment deal with the company.
In the release, Garza said, "I love what Nike stands for and I’m impressed by the knowledge and the passion that goes into how they develop products for athletes. They know their stuff and I’m honored to be representing the Swoosh."
And then he went out and shot 86 to be worst in the field by six shots yesterday. Not a good start.
Going out in 40 can happen to almost anyone. But a quad on 10 and another 10 on the par-5 13th really did Garza in against no birdies.
Hopefully it gets better today so he can leave town without the taste of puke in his mouth.

I have no clue on the purpose of this post other than some odd desire to embarrass a rookie making his first professional start…but OUCH. That’s a tough start.

But Court knows a jest from a joust. I get a kick out of the guy. He’s one-of-a-kind, for sure.
I’m truly impressed with the knowledge/smarts/writing ability of both Ryan and Court.
Not that the rest of us are junior varsity.
