Now You Can Watch Phil Mickelson Hit Chips Better Than You Anytime For $20

Almost a year ago, Phil Mickelson released his Secrets of the Short Game DVD set with a big splash.  For $50, Mickelson would share with you all of the techniques (that he can pull and you can't) required to have a great short game.  Well, with sales likely fizzling out after being on shelves for a year, the Mickelteam has reinvigorated the product.  How?  By making available on Pay-Per-View television and Video on Demand service for just $20 per pop.

That's great!  I can have Phil show me how to hit chip shots, try to duplicate it on the course, forget what he said, and have to watch it at least once more.  Forty bucks for Phil.

Do yourself a favor and just buy the DVD set if you want these tips, and wear the thing out like it was Betamax.  Actually, Phil might want to pop in the DVD himself.  It features him showing you how to hit a backward flop shot that he says he used at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.  Maybe that might have helped him win his first US Open?

now that’s funny ! SO, when is Mickelson quitting the PGA Tour to travel with Jerry Seinfeld ?

sad thing is that there will be people who will watch it enough times to only pay $100 for that $50 set of DVD’s and STILL not be able to hit anything like the demonstrations on them. :-)

That was one hell of a shot.

Well the obvious answer to paying the 50 bucks if ya don’t have it to fork over is to find five of your golf buddies that are interested in it and each of you kick in 10 bucks each and make copies. Taaaaaaaaa Daaaaaaaaaaaa

My kids got me

the DVD set for Christmas. It sat on my shelf until May. When my short game had gotten so bad I was desperate, I pulled it out and watched. Not what I expected. I took his methods to the course and my short game is better than it has been in years. Still needs to improve, but I am definitely using his ideas. I used one of his shots yesterday when I was left of the green about 25 yards from a short side pin with a big bunker between me and the green. Before the DVD, I wouldn’t have had a way to get within 30 ft, but using his shot, I hit a real high soft shot that landed and stopped 10 ft from the hole…….missed the putt…..arggggh. I would recommend it to everyone.

any truth to the rumor that you’ve been aiming at the upslope of hills and bunkers away from the green to try the backwards flop shot ? :-)

TXQ........with you, not hard to believe!

One day on the range I had a beginner behind me hitting. He was whiffing more than hitting. I was hitting my 5 iron and on my downswing I heard a little "click’ and the next thing I knew a ball came rolling between my feet toward the ball I was hitting. Well his ball rolled right up to my ball and stopped just as I was impacting my ball…..I hit both balls. I couldn’t believe what just happened and wondered what the odds of that happening were. We tried to duplicate it with him rolling a ball with his hand and never came close……wish it would of been on video. Don’t try to top that……it can’t be done…:)

Damn, Em. You win on two counts. Your story tops mine

and yours really happened, I presume.

I’m more of a fiction writer. Lends itself to creativity.

TXQ.......Absolutely True

It happened 16 years ago, and I still remember it like it just happened. Even more remarkable about it was the range wasn’t that great and the grass was clumped up……so it wasn’t like the ball had a smooth roll to my ball, which was a big reason we couldn’t duplicate it.

Oh, by the way……do I win anything???

Well, that's great.......

I don’t ever win a good prize…….reminds me of the time I won a toy truck as a door prize at a golf tournament………everybody thought it was hilarious……I didn’t see the humor.

Just tell me it wasn’t a metal Hess truck. Some companies like Hess have a special run of troy trucks made for Christmas presents every year. Some are worth thousands of dollars. My brother was the tennis pro on Lana’i for a year and the Hess family stayed at the resort and took tennis lessons. As a tip, they left him one of the trucks, and like you, he didn’t get it and gave it to a little kid on the island who just loved it as a toy. Bro thought it was nice, but a cheap tip…until a few months later when someone told him what he had given away – a toy truck worth about $750. So much for a cheap tip. :-)

Court's certainly smarter than the average commenter.

Trouble being, all of Ryan’s commenters are way above average, so it’s tough to judge.

But Court judges us pretty well. (J/K)

I’ve no doubt the brain genes in Court’s family are abundant. I just wouldn’t that to go to Court’s head.

Thanks for that, Court......

Now I’ll always wonder if I gave away a million dollar truck!!! I don’t remember what kind of freakin truck it was, and nobody else thought is was worth anything. It was when I lived in Denver. There were so many great prizes….clubs, bags, balls…..and a truck….:(
