Donald on Pebble: A Test Unlike Most Other Opens

Luke Donald wrapped up a great round of even par 71. He missed just three fairways on the round.  In a revelation that may bode well for the longer hitters, Donald said he hit driver just once on the front today.  Not surprisingly, he hit it five times on the back.

In the flash center, he was asked about the difficulty of Pebble.  "You really have to think through every shot around here," he said.

"It's certainly not a course like some previous years Opens.  The rough is a little bit shorter, it gives you a chance to get to the greens, but you've really got to figure out where you don't want to hit it."

As for if the weather and his scoring will continue tomorrow?

"I think the morning wave always gets the better of the conditions."
